Default Big shipment shipped by sea

I had no idea where else to ask this question. I know some of you guys sell a lot on eBay so was wondering if anybody had ever had anything shipped by sea.

Basically, there's this item I want that is either £800 DHL or £500 by shipped by sea. I do not mind going to the port myself to collect the item but I am not sure if this is possible

Does anybody have any more information on this please?

Anything is appreciated

thanks

If your item is being shipped via Sea then it's most likely being shipped in a Shipping Container. Have you asked the seller if they shipped it in a container?

Is that door to door? Theres a lot of hidden charges shipping by sea, use a UK freight forwarder. Probably isn't worth it to just save £300.
Customs actually check items shipped by sea aswell rather than let all the mac, ralph lauren and lacoste in like they do with DHL lol, so make sure your items are legit and have all the certificates they need

For that price personally I would go with DHL. Well worth the extra £300 IMO

The questions you need to ask your seller is if this includes clearance UK side and if it is DDU.

If it is not DDU, you will also incur clearance costs UK side, you will need an EORI number and also an agent in the UK to clear this and forward to your door on an LCL (part container loads) basis.

Looking at the prices above, i would just go DHL to save hassle and most of all time/cash flow.

yeah thanks guys and sorry for the late reply.

i chose to go against it after speaking with another guy who said he had to pay 1000 euro taxes. justified it by saying that was in euros but still that is crazy!

i looked around and found it for £50 or so extra shipped by FedEx.

to anybody who finds this thread, just use any other shipping method but sea!

I ship by sea monthly. Sometimes a few times a month. I only do it on orders that are more than $4000.00 in express shipping and dont need to arrive quickly.

Last week one order that would have cost $5800 was $300 by sea plus a trailer truck deliver from port to door, about $700.00 more. One hand to another takes just about 30 days China to West coast USA with most of that time just sitting in a container at both ports.
