Setting up Tethered Cell Phone Connection
I use my cell phone for internet connection during stealth connections, with the cell phone tethered to my laptop PC by a UBS cable. But I recently made a mistake during the setup, which costed me one of my stealth accounts (fortunately it was a new account and not a long term account, but nevertheless a stealth account).
The mistake was not turning off the WiFi connect on the iPhone and on the PC network connection BUT hooking up the tethered connection. Normally I disable the WiFi feature on BOTH the iPhone and the PC BEFORE making the tethered connection. When setup properly (WiFi turned off on both) the PC will show an Ethernet connection and not a WiFi. But since I did not turn off the WiFi, a connection was made through my WiFi and the IP address that was previously banned, was use and instant busted. Oh well, another learning experience.
So to help other . . . Turn OFF the WiFi on both the cell phone and the PC if you plan to use cell phone tethering for your stealth connection.
Cell phone tethering works great. The IP varies depending on where your cell phone provider routes the connection (check by going to IPBurger.com to verify IP) and the connection is classified as “cellular” which is great.
But you need to (1) turn off your WiFi feature, and (2) keep a log of the IP addresses used.
Happy Stealthing!!
