I had no issues with FirstData, but yes beware and do some shopping around before you just sign up with any merchant provider.

iPayments is the worst processor in history, I worked for TD Bank for 5 years in the Merchants Risk Management, as an under writter. Heard the worst stories from them, they even list you on the MATCH list for quietly any reason they see fit. They have no customer service, there fees are lower than FirstData, but beware they have hiden fees up their sleeves.

You should of went to your local Bank and talked with a merchant services specialist to get you competive rates, or on a great plan and provide you with better details. Hitting a Per Transaction Limit is quite normal to flag a risk feature but regarless, only you could stablished or know your monthly sales and thats the risk. What is your highest limit per transaction and your average limit per transaction, only you as a business owner could established it. To me there way of business just seems unprofessional really.
