Default Paypal appeal Denied

Has anyone ever gotten this email from paypal? I got this in 2 of my steatlh accounts recently. Both at around the same time. They had about 1,000 dollars each in them. I wasn't even limited until I recieved these emails. So it wasn't like I filed an appeal on my limitation. I really freaked out at first because I thought they were going to close the accounts.. But I logged in and the money and the accounts were still there. Heres the email:

For the safety and security of the PayPal network, we often review accounts
for potential risks. After reviewing your account, we have decided to close
it because of security issues.

We are making every effort to minimize any disruption to your business.

If your PayPal account balance is zero, and you have no unresolved buyer
complaints or chargebacks, your account will remain limited.

-----------------------------------
Disbursement options
-----------------------------------

Option 1. If you owe refunds to any of your buyers, you can use the money
in your PayPal account to refund them.

To refund your buyers:
1. Log in to your PayPal account.
2. Click "Contact Us" at the bottom of any page.
3. Click "Contact Customer Service."
4. Under "Choose a Topic," select "Sending/Receiving Money."
5. Under "Choose a Subtopic," select "Refund/Cancel a Payment."
6. Click "Continue" and follow the instructions to refund payments.

Option 2. Money in your PayPal account will be held for 180 days. After 180
days, we'll email you information on how to receive your funds.

We regret any inconvenience this may cause.

Thanks,

PayPal

Is the email real? does it have your account name or "paypal member"?

Got to watch for ⊗⊗⊗⊗ spoof emails. Never click the links in emails. You will get what looks like PayPal and enter your password and get an error. But whats actually happened is you gave away your password

Hopefully just a glitch. I received notice on an account when I logged in last week limit was lifted, but there was no limit. And its fine

Or maybe as soon as you try a transaction it will get limited. Man, the fears of PayPal...

Well the thing is it did get limited, but they didn't send me the normal "You just got limited" email. They sent me this instead. I never attempted an appeal on either account. It just had me concerned I guess.

But this means I'm just going to have to wait out the 180 days I guess? Or are they actually going to close the account?

Ahh. Sorry, long day. Wasn't paying close enough attention. So they just killed you right out of the gate. Sounds like they linked you, did a manual check and pulled the pin outright. They didnt like something....

Ya, 180 days :(

180 days is the amount of time that buyers have to initiate a chargeback from their bank. So PayPal will tell you this is necessary to protect them from loss.

From PayPal's point of view, they have already decided that they do not want you as a customer, so why should they care if yoiu are upset about the 180 day hold?

oh, i see , I did not realise that the 180 had to do with the chargeback time frame

it kind of makes sense in that respect, I thought that it was just an arbitrary time frame,

would not put it past them though

ah well thanks for the help guys. Looks like I should be getting some money in march or april. Better than never. I guess. But they can't just take the money can they? Like I for sure will have it after 180? They are just holding it in case of a chargeback or something then?

You will get the money in 180 days, minus any refunds or chargebacks.

They have not yet figured out how they can legally steal your money.

Although their best and brightest are working on it...

Of course they make a good killing investing your cash while it sits - that's the way it is and will be until policy changes.

And, yes it does happen that they do an insta-kill of an account.

they are criminals at the end of the day, what they should be doing is looking at the costs of transactions in the previous 180 days...add up the costs that are subject to a possible charge back and hold that only, the money left over should be released without question as their is no need for it to be held,
i bet their has been someone with 2 grand in an account with only 100 quids worth of transactions liable to chargebacks.....basically this is fraud,

probably alot more then £2000 for some,,,,plain and simple way to make money of someone elses hard work, someone could do something bad over something like this,it could totally destroy someones and their familys life, they do not care about people, they are out for themselves........
treat people how you expect to be treated.....but sometimes you gotta treat others how they treat you

@Mr GTB, sadly that's why you should not play with paypal if you're life depends on the funds there. Lot of people get burned - paypal keeps the policy in order to avoid fraud.

Yes it hurts a lot of people but they settle for the "greater good".

greater good,youre jokin right???..
i dont think they care about us at all
avoid fraud....they commit the biggest fraud
most people dont know how they operate till its too late, ive read alot of stories and its no coincidence,
like i was saying, why dont they just keep the money that will cover any possible chargebacks and release the rest, its a scam end ov!
imo their is no justification of their policy to hold all funds for 180 days
no money can go out but money can come in so they can make more money off you, just think of the millions they make while their loyal customer suffers

I know its frustrating, we've all been through it. But holding your money and then giving it back isnt fraud. Its ****y, but its not fraud.
