| | | silkcru2438 | 12-14-2008 02:00 AM | 180 days hold, when does it begin??? EDIT: my thread was merged over here, i found my answer thanks!
Long story short, i try to bypass the SS# when my account got limited, but they woudlnt allow it. I spoke to them on the phone, and they said I have to wait 180 days to get my money.
I was wandering when does the 180 day hold begin? Will i receive another notice from paypal? It's already been three weeks. |
| keeponkeepinon | 12-18-2008 12:06 PM | Has anyone had an account that has NOT received the money after 180 days? I'm particular interested in anyone who has done this with a very high balance. (5K+) Thanks! |
| malchiang | 12-19-2008 09:12 PM | i was supposed to receive a large payment above $6000 from epn yesterday but paypal was limited permanently due to what they call "high risk activities" anyone know why is that so? I had checked paypal limited the account at 1am and the epn earnings came in about half hour later at 1.30am. Anyone can advise as paypal does not want to give out any reasons. |
| yaw1800 | 12-19-2008 09:47 PM | they probably dont have a real reason, which is why they hide behind that "confidentiality" crap... i would advise you to refund the epn and open up another merchant account to get that money .. 6 months is a long ways away from today |

problem is that money did not even get into the paypal account, I am afraid now to ask epn to send the money to another paypal as it might happen again, i am based outside of usa so I was thinking of getting a usa bank account to receive the money. |
| yaw1800 | 12-19-2008 10:48 PM | are the epn people based in the US?
if so, and if you can get a US bank account, have them send you a check (if its ok with them) and just deposit it into the account |
| malchiang | 12-20-2008 02:28 AM | yes I think they are based in US, problem now is how do I get a US bank account as a foreigner. |
| Itzabreeze | 12-23-2008 08:19 PM | Interesting, so after 180 days Paypal send the typical "you may withdraw your funds now" e-mail. But instead of saying basically that they have concluded that your account is at risk and you are indefinitely suspended, they said that since it has been 180 days you may withdraw funds..... BUT paypal still needs more time to decide what they want to do with my account.
Anyone ever get this before?. How long after this do they make a decision on your account..... if ever?? |
| GreenBean | 12-23-2008 09:01 PM | ^^^^ Not sure exactly what you mean?
My understanding is that paypal limits an account. You attempt to get the limitation removed. Sometimes this is successful, sadly sometimes not. After some time because paypal does nothing overnight, you usually get a' we find your business high risk' or 'we
hate your hair color' and the account becomes permanantly limited. Then that 180 days comes to play. Can not recall an account just having monies limited for 180 days without communication from paypal |

LOL! OMG me too!
Every day the debit card max comes out without fail.
About the 180 day hold, they do give you your money but you have to request it after the 180 days are up.
If you don't go in and request it, your money will sit in there til kingdom come.
I was able to send mine to my bank account, you also have the option to request a check. |
| Itzabreeze | 12-24-2008 01:46 AM | Added my flag. I'm in Canada :).
As discussed in this thread I did received my money back after 180 days.... the majority of people on here are saying that although they do get there money back.... paypal bans them at the 180 day mark... Paypal said that I can withdraw funds AND although my account hasn't been banned... it is still limited untill they can conclude there research.
I just assumed that they would usually ban you right away after the 180 days..... OR put your again in good standing.... not for it to be semi-limited after you have been able to withdraw funds and 180 days has passed. |
| eseller | 12-24-2008 04:00 AM | In my case, this last time they had asked for my social security number in order to lift the limitation and I refused to give it so my account stays limited. |
| crownedseller | 01-02-2009 12:47 PM | I have been limited from paypal they told me i will not be able to use paypal ever again. I would like some help around this |

Itzabreeze is talking about the email they send you when the 180 day limitation is up. He/She is not referring to the initial limitation process. After 180 days your account is still limited. However, they send you an email letting you know that you can now withdraw the funds. Your account is still limited and you cannot conduct any further business.
I do have a question for people with experience with 180 day limitations...
If you have gone through this and have received the email from ebay alerting you that the funds are available, can you please count the days backwards from the day you receive the email and see if we can work together to pinpoint the exact time the 180 day limitation clock begins? On one of my most recent 180 day lifts I did a count and the actual time between the FIRST limitation and the day they released the funds were actually 173 days. I have another account that should be coming off 180 day limitation in the next 2 weeks sometime. I will count again on that account. I can confirm they don't make you wait 180 days from the last day you received a payment. My last payment received on that account was Aug 3rd and they released my funds sometime in December. |
| yaw1800 | 01-04-2009 09:36 PM | for me i didnt have to wait exactly 180 days on my personal account. the email came in about 2 weeks early.. i guess 180 is probably their approximation |
| shaqa | 01-05-2009 09:54 PM | i lost 1500, i dint know this method how it work
thnx a lot for the news ! |

. | Exactly, after the 180 days I got an e-mail from paypal saying my funds could be withdrawed. I assumed that they would include a note saying basically "we no longer want to do business with you and we are ending our relationship". But, they just said you can withdraw your funds but we will keep your account limited. Does anyone have experience with this happening?. |
| Here We Go Again | 01-07-2009 11:42 PM | ^^^^^^^
Just withdraw you money after the 180 days is up and write off that Paypal account.
It will be MUCH easier than to ever use it again. |

It will be MUCH easier than to ever use it again. | It's already been 180 days and I did get my money out of the account. I understand that the account is pretty much useless/blacklisted, but I kind of find it bizarre that as far as I know everyone is getting these "we no longer want to do business with you" messages once they reach the 180 day mark. I never got this message, paypal just stated my account will continue to be limited tell I guess whenever they want.
I was wondering if anyone else was NOT gotten there account closed after 180 days. Do they just let the limited account sit there forever?. |
| Here We Go Again | 01-14-2009 08:14 PM | If Paypal leaves your account open but Limited it counts as a "Open Account" on their books.
If they close your account then it does not count as "Open"
This is how eBay & Paypal can say legally that them have ??? 10 million members... (just a number out of thin air)
You account will probably stay limited and sit there until hell freezes over. |
| alphaversa | 01-22-2009 04:01 PM | Another one of my accounts just came off of 180 day hold. It was initially frozen July 24th, 2008 and they finally let me have my money January 16, 2009. It was a few days short of 180 days actaully. |

What I did was refund all of my ebay transactions and emailed my buyers to pay me on a different paypal account I had. That way Paypal was only holding maybe $50 for 6 months instead of $900 for 6 months, no interest for them. | wot about if you have already sent the items, and the paypal money isnt pending but is in your balanced, i guess your screwed then ?? |

some people said they have been able to get paypal to release some of the funds (i havent seen this recently though to be honest) ... otherwise, just get a calendar and start the countdown |
| alphaversa | 01-27-2009 05:35 PM | You can talk them out of the 180 days sometimes. I had an account shut down about 2 weeks ago and I was told there was no appeal and I had to wait 180 days. After I called Paypal and spoke to them at length, they told me they would release the funds to me 21 days after the suspension was over if I didn't have any complaints on file. I have a little over a week to go. I will update this later. |

Heh, well, I can share some experience. I had an account that was limited in early 2005 for being linked to someone else who had issues with them.
They refused to reopen my acct til my relative paid his debt to them.
He paid them in mid 2008 and I was able to get the limitation lifted shortly after that.
So yeah, that one just sat in limbo for more than three years. |

| SickandTired067 | 03-10-2009 04:24 PM | Believe it or not, I was able to get paypal to release $8,200 of the 15K they were holding. About 30 days into my "lockdown", I was able to plead my way to getting $3200, then 30 days later I was able to get another 5K. They are still holding quite a bit though...but will see what happens in the next 30 days. I see no reason to hold the money longer than 90 days, since most banks in the UNITED STATES will not do chargebacks after 90 days. I'll update you all with that...my 90 day mark is coming soon. |
| Here We Go Again | 03-10-2009 04:31 PM | ^^^^^^^^^^^^
1 - Why in the world would you EVER have a Paypal account with 15 THOUSAND as a balance?
2 - Credit Cards can do chargbacks up 6 months (or 180 days). |

I keep hearing all this and that about "take your funds out daily"...well...I was never given that GRAND oppportunity!:p Started selling on ebay (using older account i had), during the xmas holiday season. Sales were booming and I made that 15K in 5 days:D
Yes, I am aware that TECHNICALLY a bank can do a chargeback for 6 months, but most credit card companies just simply don't give there customers that long to file...90 days is the norm.
I now have my own merchant account and next xmas I'll be much better prepared thanks to all the information i've gained and all the helpful tips given here by many of you here. |
| ronaldchen | 03-18-2009 10:47 PM | How many ways to withdraw after 180 days? Hi everybody who experienced 180 days.
I live in Canada, but my paypal in in US and use ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name and address.
My paypal has been limited for 180 days, I just wonder how can I get my money back by then?
Thanks |
| soonthenet | 03-18-2009 10:51 PM | You can add a bank account and withdraw the money as well |
| ronaldchen | 03-19-2009 06:59 PM | can i add a canada bank account to withdraw from the us paypal? |
| SickandTired067 | 03-20-2009 02:05 PM | Ok...well..here's my update. I contacted paypal 2 days ago via email @ executiveoffices@paypal.com with a request for early release. I told them I had no chargebacks or complaints within the last 30 days and that while my customers are happy with their orders I am near the brink of financial disaster! Well...to my suprise, the following day I received an email from them telling me that although my account will FOREVER remain limited, I may withdraw the balance of my funds (overrrrr 7K). So that's it...I got paypal to release over 15K in 90 days!:D
Hope this helps give those of you who also have sufferred at the hand of the 180 day HAMMER! Moral of the story....ask..and you shall receive:) | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 09:18 PM. | |
