180 day hold

Hi,

I'm just wondering, does paypal return the money after 180 days after your paypal account is limited?

So, it doesn't matter if the paypal account is limited or suspended. If there is money still inside the paypal account. Paypal will return the money after 180 days, even if the paypal account is not restored?

Or do I have to restore the paypal account to get my money back?

Any input will help.

Thanks,
Mikey03

lakeman 03-24-2009 09:19 AM

Yes you will get your money, either by check to your registered address or it will be deposited to your bank account after the 180 days even if your account remains limited.

mikey03 03-26-2009 08:23 PM

Do I have to call paypal after 180 days to get the money transferred?

backplaya33 03-28-2009 01:46 PM

Withdrawing after 180 days...

My paypal was limited and it is now 180 days later(stealth account). Can I add a bank account and withdraw? The funds are still there and I really need them, can I send to bank account or can I only use check?

lakeman 03-28-2009 02:05 PM

Yes, You can add a bank account and withdraw the funds.

Proof of Ownership of Items bought years ago....

Hi everyone!
My account has been restricted... I have given them all the documentation to prove I am who I am... this is such a long ridiculous list and now they won't let my money go because I can't find a receipt for an Item I purchased like 5 years ago. I don't even keep records for that far back. Does anyone have a suggestion for me..

Thanks!

GreenBean 05-15-2009 06:19 PM

:yar:Welcome,dw87,
Bit strange of paypal . Maybe consider phoning them to explain about the receipt. Would think that other things have happened with your account. Good Luck

gurusgrafx 05-15-2009 06:31 PM

make a receipt for it.

oompaloompa 05-16-2009 02:15 AM

how far back do paypal ususally ask for receipts and tracking? I only keep mine for 3 months and then throw them out

ebaykilla 05-17-2009 07:50 PM

you need to keep them in case you get a chargeback which can occur in 6 months.

aksjkas 07-16-2009 04:24 PM

i've read a few threads on here saying that paypal has been giving them trouble after 180 days. namely this thread

http://www.aspkin.com/forums/paypal-...imitation.html

does anyone know if this is happening to U.S. accounts and what documentation they require?

GreenBean 07-16-2009 09:19 PM

^^^ At this point, very few troubles reported within the US. Some monies have been held forever by paypal. This has mainly been because the user
could not resolve certain sensitive requirements.

aksjkas 07-17-2009 12:19 AM

i'm 3 for 3 so far for a total of around $14,000

guess ill keep my fingers crossed

superking 08-24-2009 09:35 AM

I threaten to sue, sent a legal letter to paypal president. i received a call from one of their senior executive assistants, and he negotiated to release 50% this month and 50% next month.

The amount was $2500 and happened about 2 years ago.

Now my account is limited for $3000 because they figure out I supplied a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ ID, so they will not longer look at my case. i wonder if i can plead guilty this time.

bluemoon999 08-24-2009 09:47 AM

For those of you who don’t know, Paypal is NOT A BANK. It is officially classified as a "Money Service". So that, PayPal does not have to follow Federal Banking Guidelines. These guidelines are to help protect an individual's bank account from being frozen without warning, explanation, or recourse, for months at a time. Sadly, PayPal continues to do this to many innocent, to thousands of PayPal accounts every month.

webguy 08-24-2009 10:56 AM

If it's a stealth account you are lucky they aren't asking for a SSN #

They do want all 4. After you have submitted these 4 items be prepared to wait for up to a month or more for them to verify the information and lift the limitation.

Add and confirm a bank account:

Go to accountnow.com and sign up for an account. They will give you a account and routing number you can use to verify your account right away. They only check the numbers not the name or address.

Confirm Location:

Hopefully you listed an address you have access to. You have to request they send a conformation letter which will have a pin number inside you must enter on your account.

Provide Proof Of Shipping

For this you need one of the following:
USPS Delivery Confirmation number
FedEx Tracking Number
UPS Tracking Number
Fax or upload documentation

You could still accept payments on the limited account but it's possible that you might not get the funds for 180 days.

I have been using Google checkout for a few years for odds and ends and I have never had any problems with them. It's easy to sign up for an account. Just make sure you use your correct information. Everything.

CCNOW is a good alternative to a regular merchant account if you do low volume sales or have bad credit.

Before you make a decision on what to do, be aware of the fact that a "buyer" could potentially be an ebay employee posing as a customer.

The very first stealth account I had I was selling a pair of valve covers and was only accepting Paypal for payment. Right before the end of the auction a "customer" emails me asking If he can pay via money order. Well the address on my account was ****
so I wasn't accepting money orders for that reason. (This is back when you were allowed to accept checks and money orders).

The guy offers to pay an extra $10 if I were to accept a money order so I agreed. I told him to contact me if he won the auction and I would give him a different address to send the payment to.

After the auction ended he emailed me saying he won and that he was the one that I said could send the money order. I was suspicions right away because his user id was different than the first one he emailed me from.

Well I went ahead and gave him the address to mail the payment to which was my real address (a suspended address) and about 30mins later my account was suspended due to association with a suspended account.

Coincidence? Not likely.

Don't trust anyone!!

nobody999 08-28-2009 01:27 AM

how they figure out it was ⊗⊗⊗⊗ id?

If I never had a bank account attached to my paypal, can I add one after the 6 months is up to withdraw?

hondAman 09-02-2009 10:09 PM

After 6 month question paypal

My paypal account has been limited. So after 180 days will I be able to add a bank account to paypal to withdraw funds? I never had a bank account on file yet.

nope, they will cut you a check

bluemoon999 09-03-2009 12:47 AM

Paypal won't let you add bank account after 180 days. Rule's changed.

hondAman 09-03-2009 07:03 PM

Can I add the bank before the 180 day is up then?

bluemoon999 09-03-2009 07:06 PM

Not either.

GreenBean 09-03-2009 07:07 PM

Read bluemoon's reply. NO is the answer.

ive always found uploading gets you up and running faster. They tend to "lose" stuff when you fax. Also when you upload always add a little contrast drop the brightness and make it in black and white so it looks like you scanned on an old scanner. Also makes the info come out a little fuzzy and looks more authentic

GreenBean 09-03-2009 07:43 PM

^^^ agree on how you prepare the stuff. When I fax papers I send 'many' copies and to different fax numbers. Someone ends up acting on them. I use a fax to prevent any linking of IPs ;)

drosenseo 09-04-2009 12:53 PM

I feel foolish asking this elementary question, but I want to be certain...

So if my pp account is limited, when does the 180 day count start? From the date of the limitation? Or from the time that I contact paypal and inform them I refuse to comply with their request of my SSN? In the first post of this topic from 2007 it says 180 days from the last transaction- I didn't know if that still held true or if it is outdated.

I just want to be certain bc I have several accounts in this situation currently, and I want to know exactly when my money will be freed up. Thank you in advance.

lakeman 09-04-2009 02:05 PM

It's 180 days from the day your account got limited.

bmovers 12-08-2009 02:23 AM

I have read a lot of conflicting info on these threads about the 180 days and withdrawing the money.
My pp account is limited.

If I do not provide any documentation, will I definitely be able to withdraw everything after the 180 days?

There is only a few hundred dollars in there.
It just got limited the other day and I have many unshipped orders. If I am definitely going to get the money in 6 months I might as well ship the orders.
If it is not certain, then I should refund them all.

captainjack1980 12-08-2009 11:42 AM

Yes you will get the money as long as you don't close the bank account! And as long as non of the transactions are disputed.

Personally though I would refund and keep my stock to sell on the next Ebay account.

CaptainJack.

Hey guys ! I am wondering what i should do. My paypal went down 3 months ago, so i am just about to get money back, hopefully..lol.. The problem is that my bank account which was linked to that paypal is closed, & i am not in US no longer. So can anyone tell me how i can whidraw money from my PayPal.. Thnx

s7evin 06-05-2010 11:56 PM

I'm just wondering, next month, it should be 180 days for my paypal account, the problem is that my attached bank is now closed but the address on the paypal is mine, are they really going to refund me? I'm in Canada..

jbluntz 06-06-2010 12:01 AM

Why not just withdraw the money every day and never let more than a few bucks in there at a time then you wouldn't have to worry about it, every limited paypal I have has less than $100 in it or it's below zero.

s7evin, lots have changed with paypal since this thread started. Just be aware of that

Did you get told by paypal they would give you the money back after the 180 days is over? If so, then you should get notice it's ready for release. You can contact them and discuss how to get paid :pop2:

@jbuntz, the horse has already bolted. Hope that anyone affected applies your good advice for future accounts. :ranger:

janckson 06-06-2010 01:04 AM

Does the 180 day cash out rule also apply to accounts that were limited due to a linked negative account?

hdman 06-07-2010 09:06 PM

yes they will, the whole point of them holding your money for 180 days is to have a reserve against any complaints or refunds are requested from your buyers, trust me paypal held $6000 from me for 6 months, thats six grand for six months without interest.

OUCH ...

But in the end i got it all, i called them when my time was up, they didnt send me a check though, they told me to log into my account and transfer the money out.

Look at it like your money being in prison for 6 months.
