Received this on quite a few payments Ive received recently.
Just a dumb new way for them to tell you that youve received a payment.
Dumb and misleading on their part cause the funds are already in the account.

Why do they do anything? Just dumb but has zero impact on functionality - just ignore and keep going.

Is that because of difference currency transactions? i remember once i also had to accept money manually while i was receiving payments from foreign buyers who had accounts with different currencies.

The only time I've ever seen a notification about claiming a payment is when I sent an invoice from an unverified account. You can't receive payments via PP invoicing if you don't have a bank account attached to the receiving account. If you try, Paypal tells you that you have a payment waiting to be claimed and that you need to verify your account by either adding a bank account or your SSN before you can claim it.
This was my first thought when I read this thread yesterday, but I'm not sure if that's what is going on here.

Its just a dumb new way for paypal to notify people they received a payment.
Nothing actually needs to be done about it. Its just a way to encourage people to log to their accounts - I suppose paypal think s if youre already logged in youll be encouraged to also use the account to send money. Weak logic on their part if that's the case.

I've had these a few times over the years, and if I recall correctly, it came with an email to say payment would be returned to sender if unclaimed after a certain date.
Why this happens, I cannot say for sure. Perhaps something to do with the funding source the buyer used etc.
Either way, it's uncommon, nothing new (at least for UK side).

I know the email you speak of as I got those myself in the past - those are ones you get from unverified accounts (or used to).
This is NOT the same message.
