I received several payments today none held, only 1 was over $100 but they didn't hold it...I usually don't receive over $100 for a single payment but I guess if I do and they hold it I will just refund and have them use CCnow or Google...

May 30th 3:00pm Item shipped.

I shipped it out asap, even upgraded to priority free of charge. My buyer was very pleased, not like i really did it for them, faster they get the item the better for me. But of course i made it look like a promotional thing. Well see what happens next. Im expecting another large amount on Sunday, so im kinda anticipating the account getting limited. But im prepared.

Interestingly enough i sold the exact same item on my other account sold for about $800 it wasnt held but the account was limited, supplied all the documents and the limitation was removed. Every since i have been making a steady high amount on that account and nothing has ever been held. I made that paypal account last year i just had it hanging around so i decided to use it. This one thats currently has funds on hold is about 3 months old.

Maybe they consider Japan low risk?

Default PayPal $0.66 hold

So I sold something for $0.99 on my new ebay account and paypal put a hold on it for $0.66 for 21 days. I thought they put a hold on it for $100 or over.

It appears that ALL Ebay payments are now being held for 21 days. I had a 14.00 payment held.

this is quite absurd. Do you think they are just trying to turn into an escrow service? someone needs to challenge the legality of this.

no it wasn't a vero item it was like a digital item. How can I verify that I shipped it through by email and not by an actual shipping service.

Hmmm...
Hold everything for 3 weeks...thats 6% of a year. Sweet interest.

Plus having to use a verifiable shipping can get expensive...especially for low margin items (90% of items)

Default Ways to get around Paypal 21 day hold

Hello Aspkin Subscribers,

Does anyone know how to get around the 21-day hold? According to some frustrated sellers on the official eBay forums, the best thing to do is simply refund the payment and then send them a separate invoice through Paypal. Since the 21-day hold only applies to items bought on eBay, the Paypal invoice should not be held because it is not listed as an "eBay item."

I'm not sure whether this works or not, but I'm currently testing it. Will let you guys know how it works!

That works fine. Make sure the buyer list the payment as goods and not part of eBay. Also you can ask the buyer to send to another payment processor like Google Checkout.

And let the buyer know to leave positive feedback ASAP to remove the hold, and add tracking to Paypal ASAP.

Other then that, I haven't heard much else about getting around holds.

Default Ebay - Paypal - the 21 day hold

After getting 14 PP payments for ebay items, all under 20.00 and all with a 21 day hold, I decided to do a test and I did a PP refund of every payment and sent an email explaining why I was refunding and provided a link to a very angry ebay forum discussion on this new policy. I sent each customer a PP money request from a different PP account (cash advance) and asked my customers to either pay via the money request or to mail a check or money order.

After approx 24 hours here are my responses so far

4 - Paid the PP money request
2 - Said they would mail a check/money order
2 - Resent the PP payment through ebay .. either idiots or cant they read.
3 - emailed me basically saying go to hell
3 - No response.

If this is typical of what is going to happen .. it doesnt look good.

Default sorry its a bit long...

Ok i just wanted to follow up on this for you guys.

So it started off a bit crazy, its been 3 days since i gave paypal the delivery confirmation and that the buyer had picked up the item. So i was just waiting for today to call them which i did.

First time i called, female answered and im sorry but I have so many bad experiences with some females reps not knowing what they doing and when i call back and its a male they fix my problem. So anyways i hung up called back and i got a male rep (yay). Explained the situation as i mentioned earlier in this thread and he transferred because he doesn't have the authority to lift the limitation so he transferred me.

A lady answered (great!)..i said the exact same thing to her and she ALSO didn't have authority to lift the limitation in addition to that she was like"i dont think this hold is a paypal thing, its maybe an ebay thing". Do i look stupid? So i asked her well what kind of hold is it then since it was initiated BY paypal..she said hold and transferred me AGAIN.

By this time im getting pissed but im trying really hard to keep calm because i just want access to my funds. So she transferred me to this other lady who again didnt know what to do and didnt have power to do anything. So i politely asked her to transfer me to the limitation department to speak with someone that can do something to help and not just read sh*t (i didnt say that) too me that i already know. She transferred me to the limitation department.

I explained this problem to the other lady and shes like "well we sent an email to you saying we are waiting on buyers response." I told her its been 3 days since the delivery confirmation and there is no way paypal should be allowed to hold the funds in my account especially since i have no open disputes. She agreed. So she said ok I will call the buyer right now...since when do they do through such lengths?? Anyways i was put on hold again for another 10mins while she tried to contact my buyer. She came back on the line and said she will be removing the limitation immediately so i guess she spoke them him..i dont know. But she was much nicer and cordial when she returned. She apologized for the delay. After almost 45mins of being transferred 4 times and put on hold countless times, i got the email "Your account access is fully restored".

Tip of the day dont take no for an answer. (especially when you know you are in the right)

Why are they holding the money for 21 days? Is it only on certain items?
