I've just finished testing.
You cannot add a bank at this time.

Just got a US bank account this morning - could not get one before the weekend. Likely create an account tomorrow or day after to try the verification. Tonight is softball game (thanks Sandy D :thumb: hah)

Im going to play with some more things later, but I think they have changed some verification checks to be able to add us account. I am going to try and pin point which one.

A few days ago, I was able to add a US account. I hadn't touched the account for a while, so when I tried adding it again, it made me go through the "we want to make sure it's you" security stuff... change security questions, password, verify number on file etc.

I passed the security check and it let me add the account. 2 days later I get an email saying the 2 deposits failed. When I go back to my paypal, the account is removed. When I try to add it again, it says you cannot add this account at the moment, but if you would still like to, please provide a bank statement from this account, valid ID and call 1-800xxx.

So it went thru, but didn't work beyond that. I think it's over.

I have a little info for you guys. No answers, but another piece of the puzzle.

About a month ago, I tried to add a greendot bank and got the same warning message. I naturally assumed that Paypal were actively blocking people from adding VBA's now...The easiest way to do this would be to block anyone from entering a particular routing number. You could base it on the name of the bank too, but there are too many different variations one could enter for the bank name. For example - Greendot bank , GD bank etc - and banks don't actually need this data to process the payment anyway.

SO...I assumed they were blocking the Greendot routing number. Searched online to see if Greendot use any other routing numbers...and they do! - So I typed in the new routing number I found and surprise surprise - Paypal accepted the bank account.

Fairly conclusive for me. Paypal are actively blocking you from entering certain routing numbers from known VBA's.

And before you ask - No - my trick didn't work. The payment was returned to my Paypal account as the routing number and account number did not match.

Should enquire if the VBA sellers here are having issues.

I don't think it's a certain bank because I tried first with Citi then I tried a new Wells F bank a few minutes later and still got the 'not at this time' result message.

I agree. It appears a range of different banks.

Tested different banks,different accounts with different status. Still same result, not working.
I will do some more testing to see if this is a permanent thing or is there a way around it.

I've a temp hold access for making new US bank accounts.

Yeah its definitely not a specific bank, I tried just about all of them. Adding a bank in the country of the account it goes right through. Paypal seems to be acknowledging the problem but no eta on when it will be fixed. Its not like its a small problem, even buyers who want to purchase items using there usa accounts are having issues. Its not just us sellers who like multiple international accounts. I think paypal is keeping us out the loop on something :spy:

are you still getting success using your method?

I managed to add some VBA to none US Paypal accounts but I had to call Paypal first to allow me to add them.

Tried to add a US bank account to my Canadian PP and a message pops stating whether we can call you at XXX-XXX-XXXX number (my pp telephone number used) to verify my identity. Am not at home now so will check later what the process after it. It is a new step...havent seen before. Interesting although annoying

So a regular bank account gave you issues and not a VBA, rsot?

Consistent with efforts I made.

Issues in terms of PP asking to call me and confirm location - I am waiting to go home to have access to my phone for this...hopefully just accepting the call will allow for bank to be added.

I dont have a VBA to use right now and I am not feeling like buying a VBA just to test on this account. I will however establish another PP tomorrow and get a VBA from a seller here and see what goes down.

It might be that PP is trying to phase out out-of-country bank accounts ...not generating a myth but just hypothesizing

I got that too. It was an automated cal. It let me add the VBA after, but the deposits never worked and they wanted me to call them.

Deposits never worked....and they have the bank in the system already...wow not good - will see what's up when home but am hoping the bank account is not burned.

Wow, just read this entire thread and amazed how things can change that quickly.

Hoping rsot testing shows us what is going on.

Once he gets home I guess we will find out.
