Strange paypal still gives me the option to add a usa bank account. Havent tried in years though. Do vba's still work on US accounts?

I've noticed that US bank accounts can be added without phone verification or anything once you've build enough trust on the account.

I did so by having a credit card on a new account, and made a few major purchases using it, totalling about $1000. I was able to add the bank account after about a week or so.

Keep in mind that this approach is meant for long term accounts, not burners.

I am in the USA and got the same message. Using Metabank which have since found out that paypal does no longer accept I am waiting for my new Citibank card to arrive.

I have also heard that there could be a glitch in their system due to the separation with Ebay which finalizes on July 9 so this error my still be there until the separation from Ebay is finalized. Just a thought.

I am in the USA and just tried adding a VBA with metabank today and it did not accept it. Hoping they will accept Citibank that I just opened yesterday.

I am trying to open a new PP account, they accepted my metabank bank account details but not the credit card that came with the account.

I called them and they said they needed my SSN, birthdate, and last place of residence to verify who I was. They would not accept a EIN in place of my SSN. I haven't even sold anything on Ebay yet so don't know why they need this information.

Yup. US VBA for CA are now dead. Tried adding a few and they told me to use the account for a while and build some reputation.

Used to be able to call them and get it added. Now I call and they say they can't add it.

I have 2 accounts that let me run meta and one account that it didn't work on....Weird.. hope that helped...might just be my junior level skills...lol

If your speaking of a VBA that is used to Verify a PayPal....you can add one any time you want.

Hi, I bought US VBA from one of the sellers to verify my Canadian PP, and my Canadian PP is now fully verified

I bought VBA and it did not work Philippines account.
Applied it to one of my usa stealths and ok.......worked like a charm.

Also if phone number is NOT registered on account holder name they cannot verify your account and then everything is soft limited.

The sellers are selling "Hacked Bank Accounts" as a VBA you to link. This raises flags at PayPal because when you link VBA to PayPal via Instant Login or Mini Deposits, They can get details of that owner of VBA. PayPal uses Yoodle API's and Yoodle has to Identify API which can be used to get real owner details of VBA.

The Mini Deposits also allows Paypal to get names. I've ACH processing experience, PayPal sends ACH Debit to that specific bank with your PayPal name but Bank sends NOC's as a return with a real holder name.


Best way to add bank to PayPal is calling PayPal, they will ask BG+CR questions and add bank into your PayPal without any deposits or logins.

Can you explain what is meant by a active number is "Always Needed"? Are referring to active accounts, dead accounts, withdrawing funds or what? Because and respectfully I would beg to differ. I have added the bank, withdrew and unlimited accounts all with an inactive outdated phone number on file and sometimes with no phone on file.


Some info is inaccurate here. First the instant confirmation (Log in) method is the only method that allows paypal to confirm the name of the bank account holder. 2 small deposits does not give out the name on file, but does get the name on paypal from which the funds came. Secondly, you don't need to confirm the bank to do withdraws so the 2 small deposits is not a requirement even though paypal goes through it anyway. The reason being is its a common confirmation practice, and since it takes 2-3 days they are encouraging you to do the quicker (Log in) option which give them more information about the bank including the last for digits of all other savings and checkings accounts you have onfile with that one bank. The method you recommended, (calling them up) can add a bank account as I am a witness to the success however there's about a 1/10 chance of them actually doing this for you and a 9/10 chance of them saying they are forbidden from adding banks over the phone or manually and instead you'll have to log in and manually add it yourself.

Give it time and it will work.
I just successfully added a green dot VBA (USA prepaid bank) to my aged Canadian account.

I created new paypal accounts and added VBA's and they all got errors. I waited a few days, added them again and it worked.
