Yep, all was ok afterwards - managed to add the bank and have requested to withdraw. Tried an Asian account afterwards - (called a diff helpdesk for this too) They said they would reset my account and I should be able to add my bank account once again...but this time it didn't work the first time. Still got the same error message...

So I phoned back. Told them what had transpired on the last call and the new guy asked me what bank I was trying to add. Told him it was a green dot bank, he said 'hold on'

Came back - asked if it was a/c 2445 **** - I said yes, he told me he added it for me and asked me to try to withdraw from it whilst we were on the phone - It worked.

Not sure why Canada isn't working if others countries are. Can anyone confirm - Does the helpdesk simply tell you it's not possible to add that bank / there's nothing they can do - or do they tell you they will fix the issue but then the same error message comes up (like what happened to me with the Asian PP)?

Official update. I was able to add, and confirm a US bank account to my long standing CA PP (stelth) account. However, this account has been around for a year in July and has built a very good reputation.

On a newly created CA PP I received the Email from PP stating, "Bank Account Invalid" Your bank reported a problem. I have yet to contact the bank or PP regarding this however I am certain I correctly entered the routing and account numbers.

Both of these are US banks.

Im on the same boat, Im only experiencing the issue with ca that I have created in the last 6 months. Im thinking the length of time the account has been open has an effect on being able to add.

Nope. Added account today to a new CA PP. (account created mid march) micro deposits went through in like 18hrs. Account confirmed and verified.

When you add a bank, will pp ask you to do phone verification?
I have test on my new account, I can add a bank account if I make the phone verification, if I go to edit my phone number, after entering all information to add a bank, pp will not ask to do phone verification, and state: you cannot add a bank at this time

Yes, a prompt will come up and they will call you and have you enter a code. After that the bank account is added, but not confirmed.

Just clarification: verified - cc is confirmed, bank is for verification

Just an update on this issue. At least for me on all PP accounts I have been able to add a US bank and transfer funds. So all is well at least for the time being.

I was able to add a US vba to an older account. The account is about the age since the start of this problem. It was added no problem, just needed to phone verify.

I tried a fresh CA account today, and it was throwing the same "you cannot add a bank at this time" error. Maybe the account needs to be 1-3 weeks old?

I think you're right, my account is able to add vba now, just need phone verify.

try some accounts worldwide:

US CA, can add VBA if you go through call verification.

CA account - one year old, US account - new registered

UK account , even there is no link to add one US' bank account for old account and new account.

CN account new, there is link to add one US' bank account, but one message " you can't add this bank at this time.

Correction, US paypal... you can add VBA normally, I just did try it with 3 US NEW paypal accounts

Same issue here:

Created a new CANADA pp and tried to add US wells fargo. I got the 'You cannot add a bank at this time.'
Then today tried again
Tried to add US bank and VBA to freshly created CANADA pp. I still get the error 'You cannot add a bank at this time.'

Is calling the only option?


Any tips when calling so I don't blow off my stealth cover?

why would a US bank work with a Canada paypal in the first place? wouldn't PP want your bank to be in your country?

I have tried some one year old Canadian PP, just ask calling verification. for new Canadian PP I also get message , you can't add this bank at this time. maybe have to wait one or two months for fresh pp to add VBA

I think you must wait 1-2 more weeks until you can add US bank VBA to canadian paypal.

Ah, there is a nice little gift from paypal.

A USA bank account may be used on paypal accounts of other countries.

Not evey country has this. There are many that do.

paypal has lots of tricks

USA bank has long been a nice default bank across all PP accounts - lately there have been issues with addition but just an extra step needed to call...

Dont ask much questions if you are clear about your info...name, number, e-mail...how can i help you? I want to add my us bank account - not working in system, tells me to call...I have only done this once, was added.

Would like to hear more of other experiences - this was for a US bank on CA pp.

1. when you try to add a US bank, if pp prompt to verify your phone number, that is a automatic call with a robot.

2. if you failed to add a US bank, you need to call pp ask for help, sure that is a real person.

Can anyone fix up this problem now? Can add the US META BANK into Canada PP?

I hope this title issue " can not add US account into Canada PP" can be flap and raise up, not sink down. Until found out the method to resolve it.......

If can not resolve this issue , then every body can not stealth Canada Ebay and PP.

Poblems is Canada Paypal can't added VBA, Should can't get verify.
I tested with Suntrust, Bank Of America, Chase Bank, Inter Bank all can't work.
Only can use VBA to verify USA Paypal.

Called on one CA Paypal account...after dealing with a bunch of knuckle heads, guy from the resolution center finally did something that allowed me to add my bank account.
Just tried to do another and they asked me if I would be willing to switch my paypal account to a US one. Told them I was just traveling in the states and would have to think it over....What to do now...?
