Your one time experiance cant' be use to draw conclusions. Glitches do happen on Paypal's side.

If you consistently get no hold on DIFFERENT paypal accounts with TD bank, then it's another story.

You came across as a Jack-a$$ so people called you on it.
Happened to me before as well so I know the feeling.
Conclusion (at least for me it was) - don't act like one and you wont be called out on it.

The OP has issues with OFF EBAY transactions.


It's not an ebay issue.

The issue is more than likely bank related.

I shudder to ask which captiolone account being used as there's little chance of a reply.

There are numerous posts on here about captiol one 360 being trouble.

That may have been a factor.

OP declines to say anything about his accounts so that's his loss.

Alright guys,

I did not mean to come across as a jack ass. Here are some points/facts, etc. The purpose of the post was to collect data to see if there was a pattern, that is all. I know plenty about stealth accounts, in fact I have made countless over the last 4 years. Out of those 1 in 10 would have any kind of initial hold, meaning starting from the first transaction. Rarely any. Up until a month ago, this was the norm, however at that point most of the new accounts were getting this hold from day one. I switched banks, made a few accounts, sold some off Ebay items and no holds. I do not sell on Ebay as much as I do in other ways. I am a web designer, so many of my payments come in as "services" or I send invoice's. This is why I use many stealth accounts. As far as selling on Ebay, I have separate stealth accounts for that purpose and most of them DO have holds. I understand that is an Ebay thing and not directly related to Paypal.

I've use Capitalone 360 for a very long time with little to no issues. There are ways to make it work.

As far as this thread goes, my first account I referred to in post #1, I receive three off Ebay payments. One for $35, one for $55 and one for $500. No holds on any of them. The account was made that night. The other account was also made the same day. I received a $30 payment and it had instant holds. I understand that glitches happen, however, I made a new account for "test" purposes and that one also does not have an initial hold.

I have various accounts, various banks. The only transactions that has ever had a hold on any of them is EB.

Ok, so the 90 days, $250 in sales, and 25 transactions is an ebay standard? Where did this criteria come from? Do all 3 have to apply?

go to ebay help and type in 'paypal hold' and then read what it says, but to answer, yes, all three.

While you establish your selling track record, buyer payments may be delayed. These funds will generally be available once:
- It’s been more than 90 days since your first successful sale
- You’ve had more than 25 sales transactions with US buyers, and
- You’ve had more than $250 in sales

Here are a few other reasons why your payments may be delayed:
- You have a Below Standard rating in your Seller Dashboard.
- You've started selling in a new category.
- Your account shows unusual activity, such as a sudden increase of eBay Buyer Protection cases.
- You need to add tracking information to My eBay or to an eBay Buyer Protection case.
- You can see the status of your funds in My eBay and find out what you can do to get your funds more quickly by clicking the button at the bottom of this message.

The funny thing is this account did not have holds yesterday. I sold twice my selling limits last night and they added it lol
This account should have had a paypal limitation already. Nothing in that regard.

I think it's a new thing with off-eBay PP transactions. It says this goes away after 60 days and $200 sales.
As for eBay there is always 21 day hold until 90 days from first sale, 25 positive feedbacks, and at least $250 total sales. After that you get paid right away.
It's also easy to get the money quicker, just use eBay shipping or upload the tracking number manually. Funds are released no more than three days after delivery. If you send stuff out fast you can get the funds in about a week, no need to wait 21 days unless you are not providing tracking info. Or if it's international order it ends up being almost 21 days anyway.
PayPal will release funds 7 days after delivery for an off eBay transaction.
So these 21 day holds only exist if you are not providing tracking numbers, otherwise it's much less.

In my muti-country experince,US account get longer to lift the hold,normally 60-100 days with selling feedback more than 30+.but UK account get much shorter,usually I found in 30-40 days with selling feedbacks more than 20+ they lift it. with euro accounts like france and germany there is no hold on new accounts at all..

I made a group of accounts in August and the paypal holds are all lifted now, but what was a little different than normal they all lifted exactly 90 days of selling

In the past it was usually 100-120 days sometimes shorter but usually never before 90 and it was never exact like it has been all US PAYPALS

Exactly - holds can come come back on as well - could be related to source of payments and buyer risk

But here's a horrible thing that has been happening more and more recently.


paypal IS applying holds to transactions away from ebay.

They are changing their game daily.

Holds are also coming back on eBay transactions also more frequent , not always for every transaction and a long period of time, but it's,something I haven't seen before in the way I sell

Yea, I only have 1 account that is just over 3 months old, have over 25 transactions and over $250 in sales. This account recently just stopped the payment holds. It feels good to see the "Instant payment received" email from paypal once and item is sold and paid for.

I have one other account thats about 5 transactions and $20 short of the no hold criteria. I actually really don't mind the holds b/c they help me to keep shipments organized. I guess I have gotten used to them at this point.

WTF?? The OP comes on here spewing about not getting holds from certain banks, and then mentions a few post later, they are NOT ebay sales.......well, duh!

Holds are ebays doing...not paypal.......so if you take ebay out of the equation......

Right now holds are also for OFF ebay transactions too.
That's a new thing that started ONLY in the last 2 to 3 weeks.
Whether it depends on the bank or not is a different thing.
I'll have to try and see if anyone else has a better experience using different Banks please share.
