Following my post earlier, I received my missing box the next day, I asked the DHL driver why the delay, and he told me that the local Customs agents were calling some of the boxes back for re-inspection. I believe that they are looking for something specific. My box arrived with green tape around it so I guess my items were not on their list.

Well that is some damn good news there.

That does make some Sense,,That would Explain why some of my Packages that were Customs Cleared in Cincinnatti were Seized in New York,,

Hey Everyone,
I found this thread on a search engine while looking for similar weird DHL instances. I feel like you guys would know what's going on in my instance. I don't think I am working with similar goods to you guys...This shipment is multiple boxes and a couple hundred kg. The goods should be legal to import but some customs agents seize and some don't, it's subjective upon the agent that inspects the goods.

Anyways, I have never seen tracking information as weird as this. It starting getting weird when it was sent to CT during clearance processing in NY, but then showed complete in CT but then back to NY. I was confused and called DHL. They assigned me with an import specialist. On 7/20, the rep told me that Customs is backed up and will take 3-5 business days. Thursday (7/21) was the last day that the tracking was updated as "clearance delay". On Friday (7/22), she called and said that the status is the same as before. As of now, there have been no tracking updates since 7/21 and it is 7/25. Does this look familiar to anyone in the past few weeks? As I'm very confused, all insight is greatly appreciated.:

From personal experience.. if the tracking says to contact DHL.. do it. they are helpful people!

You are Correct 99% of the Time,,,,,,,OCCASIONALLY,,,and it is VERY Rare,,Dhl was Shortchanged on their shipping fees by shippers "Fudging" the Weight of the Package, and DHL will look to get the Difference from the reciever

It might also be an Import Tax issue,,,It is VERY Hard to Convince the I.R.S that an order for 50 RC Helichopters was Just a Sample or a Gift,,,Generally thought if it is VERO, it is seized by Customs,,so DO NOT Call if it is VERO,,,and Give them a Call if it is NOT,,,

I am going through the opposite of the OP. My package is destined for the west coast, it landed in Cincinnati, OH USA and then went to Canada!

I guess we will see what happens...

Yes, this is the route 90% of my DHL packages take... China > Cincinnati > Seattle > West Coast of Canada. I don't know why they do this exactly, but they do, and it works.

Mine arrived in cinci but hasn't updated since it arrived there... heh *hopes* i don't even see clearance delay yet, so i think maybe they are just behind from monday

still sitting in cinci with no updates since arrival.. very odd. frankly, i don't understand how it could have. it left from hong kong the night before at almost 10pm and arrived in cinci by 6am? sounds odd... but no updates since arrival

Usually, packages clear within 24 hours. Anything longer could be a problem. The longer it sits, the more likely that there is a problem.

And the time zones can be different. But DHL is VERY fast (assuming there are no customs problems).

You should call DHL and ask but yes I would worry. 2 days in custom and no new.
