You might want to call DHL and find out what information is needed. As an FYI, DHL does not inspect packages, that is done by Customs. But I am not sure why a package bound for the UK would be inspected by Customs in Germany???

its just a delay, happened me a couple of times and sorts itself out after a day or so, no need to contact them unless it lasts over 2 or 3 days.

I can confirm that this status means that customs are inspecting the package...if they are happy with it the status will update to release the next day probably...if they are seizing it there will be no further updates...

DHL off-load in Europe if they make such discoveries . I had fabric coming in from Thailand. Think they ran the jet over the parcel. It was badly torn etc.
Got held-up in Frankfurt.

Its not nice to accuse anyone of anything if you dont know what they sell.

Lets just say the last time you imported anything that I would class as legit, would you be panicking over the status of the parcel as much as the OP? Not just the status but more over the 'customs status'.....

The last time I imported anything legit was last month. I had a 36kg package sent by UPS when my Taiwanese supplier always uses DHL, sometime EMS, but this time he used UPS. It was the first time using UPS for anything, and yes I was nervous on something so large and expensive.
The entire package was nothing but used and some new HDs (hard drives). 6 small packages inside one large one. Yes I was nervous, I paid the import taxes on it and nothing more.
Other people who import legit items might not panic about imports but when their packages are held for more information it means a disruption in their business.

Chicago has become a choke point for EMS packages. I don't worry about Customs SEIZING my items, but when they get held for 7-10 days for inspection, it DOES hurt. That means 7-10 days of lost sales that are impossible to recover. Money lost.
Not to mention, they cut packages with a box-cutter and they are not exactly too careful when they are opening them. That can mean items ruined.
So, just because someone is concerned about a Customs inspection does NOT necessarily mean they are importing anything illegal. They COULD BE, of course, but we don't know. I always like to give people the benefit of the doubt.

| Oh I sundertand, back in Jan. I had a small package, about 8kg. It was all new factory sealed hard drives 2.5 inch non retail box version, well customs decided to tear open about 20 sealed packages. Instead of selling them "factory sealed", I sold them "new" non sealed. I would say I lost 5-15% off the price.
The 2 HDs that had a nice 3 inch razor cut on the top sticker I sold to a friend since nobody on ebay will believe me they are "new" drives. Lost a few hundred from when everything sold.

The packages themselves are not physically routed through there only the paperwork is checked electronically and cleared or charges levied accordingly.
I get this all the time from stuff I bring in from Ireland (Republic) to the UK. Tracking always shows Dublin - Leipzig - Stanstead but the departure and arrival scans from Dublin to Stanstead are always only a couple of hours apart so no time for them to have been flown to Germany, off loaded, checked, reloaded and flown back to the UK.
