How To Remove 21 Day Holds on Payments

I just noticed when you get a ebay feedback score of 30+ ....paypal will clear all payments from there on..

I just started a brand new pp acct and using a seller acct with 30+ feedback rating.... I started selling and all payments are cleared... before all my payments were on a 21 day hold..

You can also read it on ebays site.... After a certain amount of feedback scores.. paypal is not requirement to sell on ebay... meaning that payments will clear with no issues....its all about your feedback score!

this thread is meant for those who just dont understand why payments are being placed on hold..... some sellers start to sell after 5 feedbacks and some after 15 feedbacks and payments are still being placed on hold.....

Its just some insight for those who dont know and wonder why.

There is no exact statistic. Typically it is based on DSR score. 20 DSR above 4.5 is the rule. Or 100 +fb (not 30). So, you are cleared by the DSR, I have no doubt, instead of the FB you are thinking.

This does not prevent rolling reserve hold which can strike anywhere at any time to anyone for any reason regardless of who you are or your DSR or your feedback or your powerseller status. If they RR you, it is what it is. From this day forward, I dub the Paypal Rolling Reserve to be henceforth known by me to be the PP Rick Roll.

Also, they do break their own rules, so 1000000000 positive DSR and 800 b'zillion FB does not guarantee that you will not get 21 day holds. It's only a guideline.

Stop guessing what might happen. You never can tell.

I think it varies on a per person or account basis.

I have 2 accounts brand new. On 1 of them, 1st 3 sales had no holds while next 6 all were held.

Other account, very 1st sale and next 10 all 21-day hold.

These are both (0) feedback brand new accounts at the time but as soon as feedback was recieved, holds were lifted.

Be nice if it was easy to figure out paypals determining factors for this and many other things

I would think it has more to do with the PP person who is checking the account. One staffer might be in a good mood, while another might be in a bad mood. Since two identical accounts can be treated vastly different, the account itself can be ruled out of the equation. There really is no sure way to make sense of many things PP does. You and I can make reasonable guesses, but I promise that a correct guess will still get screwed-off by 'the man' some day some time for somebody.

I got 42 postive seller feedbacks and all holds stopped. It does work.

Check to see if you have 20 DSR. Then read the PP terms regarding holds. 100 +FB OR 20 +DSR whichever comes first.

There is no rule with paypal and anything is possible at any time, to anyone, like Vic said. Sometimes I think that agents are allowed certain freedoms in managing accounts as they please. Paypal certanly does not want general public to figure them out. So I agree, things and limitations and extent of investigations can depend on what mood the agent handling account is that day. They must love reading our posts about them!

So your saying that if I get one account with 30+ positive feedback and 20+DSR, I can add another Ebay ID to that account and it will avoid the 21 day hold?

What can/does/will happen is that the second account may attract holds even with meeting the criteria. It's paypal. That's the way they work. No freebies with them

It's totally arbitrary. eBay member since 2002. 500+ positive feedback ratings. No negatives ever. DSR 4.9. The only thing that has been different of late is that I've not let my money sit in my PayPal account for as long a time. I guess they intend to sit on it one way or another.

There are indeed a number of variables that need to be considered and seemingly no hard and fast rules.

BUT to minimise the risk of holds long term (and limitation short term) you need to:

1. Age your account past 30 days AND start slow with small low value items. Sell a few items, wait for feedback then sell some more. You can sell from day 1 with these.

2. Get your DSR score past 20, with an avarage of at least 4.8 in all areas. You should be aiming to pass 50+ before your sales take off!

3. No negatives, neutrals, 1 or 2 star Ebay ratings or Paypal disputes (if you do get a dispute deal with it immediately before it becomes a claim) in these early stages of account building.

4. No VERO or any thing that is likely to get you reported or cause an Auto takedown.

And it is not enough to know the Stealth Book back to front. You also need to understand Ebay/PayPal and their TOS. It amazes me that people still don't understand the feedback system and DSRs.... Not to mention those who post here not understanding why they get repeated Ebay violations/suspensions when they are quite clearly breaching Ebay TOS.

Know the seller dashboard and understand the rating percentages!

a number of things can cause payments to be on hold... This isnt an exact science, paypal does what it wants to do because they can

paypal and ebay have teamed up and made selling on ebay a complete nightmare...

If they want to hold your money, they will.

I almost never get any holds on accounts even with 0 feedback. Maybe the first 2-3 transactions, and the next 50 no holds.

There is no point in trying to understand the rules to keep this from happening to you. The published criteria are essentially meaningless. You don't get to define terms such as "High Risk", "Sales Spike" "Fragile" etc., they do.
This system certainly wasn't created to keep people out of it and it most certainly isn't targeted toward those who are committing fraud. The "middleman" gets a cut no matter what.
If this hasn't happened to you yet, it will.

I'm not trying to suggest that you don't learn the rules of the game or that you try to ignore them. That would only put any seller in an even more precarious position. I'm also not suggesting people leave eBay. I'm not. In fact, I have numerous auctions closing in this coming week and am in the process of posting even more. I've done quite well in these past months. I will adapt and go on.
I do suggest people understand the direction eBay is being taken. Casual sellers and small business are not seen as part of the company's future..

I usually let my accounts age 3-4 months before I even use them and I get no holds on anything.

Definitely isn't an exact science. On my clean, real account, I have:
40+ dsr, all 4.9s and 5.0s
100+ feedback, 100% feedback
eBay account is 4 years old and PayPal is about 10 months now.

But I've been getting 21 day holds. Why?
Probably because I cleared my account immediately after getting money and did daily instant transfers so I can get money for a bank promotion.
