Can a canadian go to a usa bank and open up an account i need a us account for amazon

If you have ID under the terms of the Patriot Act, you should be fine.
By ID I mean passport, DL and your Canadian Health card.

What you should do is try the toll-free number for Bank of America or even HSBC. There are other banks whose names elude me right now. Speak to the sales people and check requirements.

Should you proceed, make sure you can access your money B4 you join.
By that, online banking might not be permitted because of the lack of SSN.

You can open a US currency account at RBC Canada, it works with PP as a USA account, so it would work with amazon too.

I called amazon and they said it must be a us bank not just currency
