Default Private Seller to a Business Account

Hey all,

Just doing my accounts at the minute.. I went to list some items and i get a message stating i can list anymore items for the next 30 days due to being a private seller, it states i could upgrade to a business seller and they will increase the limit.

I have a number of accounts at present selling items, should i upgrade them all ? Will there be a watchful eye on me now if i do?

All the accounts have over 150+ positive feedback and at least 6 months old.

Thanks and please help :D

Disadvantage of business is that ebay uk ask you to put the address on a page of the listing. I'm concerned some silly buyer might create problems.
My address(es) are accessible but if an account did not have that, might be a problem

ebays new policy is to limit all private sellers to 100 items a month.

Solutions

Only sell up to 100 item a month and use another ebay account to list up to 100 items, and more ebay accounts if needed

Upgrade to business account. Supply your address on your about me page, in listings or somewhere else.

There are many other solutions and I wont post them on here, just think outside the box.

Check this out:

April 2010

From 2 June 2010, all private sellers listing directly on eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie will be entitled to 100 free auction-style listings per month. Thereafter the listings will incur an insertion fee.

Hey Neo,

Thing is I'm only selling 30 items on each account I have.. Maximum 40 on some.. Its a perticular brand I'm getting the message on as I tried to list another brand on the same account and had no problem..

I don't have a problem with putting the address on as there is no link to me, therefor non accessable either..

So you think all in good to go?

I can't say for certain. But I am thinking that it would look odd. Swapping roles here, if I were at Paypal, and a flag pops up for me to look into something like this - I'd be saying to myself "Now why would a business using our service need to make two seller accounts? That ain't right! And hey, if the business really did need two seller accounts, how come they only need one pool of funds? Seems like they'd be mixing up their own accounting. Something's fishy". Then I would promptly hit the FREEZE IT button and let somebody else figure it out much much much later.

Many of us, through our own bad experiences, have come to the conclusion that each ebay should pair with one Paypal and each Paypal should only have one ebay.

I have been running 2 accounts per paypal for over a year when the accounts are personal accounts.. Would ebay not take the same stance on that ?

I know others who do it right now. Not many. I used to do it myself. Not anymore.

Also, add this to the equation:

Suddenly somebody who had 2 personal accounts is ready to upgrade to a Business. No, wait! Two Businesses. (does this not look unusual, and even moreso when combined with my earlier pointer?)

Maybe it would work out fine. But I wouldn't take the chance. I mean, if it goes poorly, how much will it impact you? Versus the impact of PLANNING AHEAD now to keep them separated at a Business level?

The act of upgrading from personal to business on just one account will cause some form of scrutiny. Maybe a bot will sniff it. Maybe a person. Combine that with another of the exact thing. Toss that on top of a shared Paypal.

Easy to change what isn't broke. Hard to fix if it does break.

True Vic, that would look weird.. How about upgrading 1 account to a business and leave one as a personal ?

That would look quite normal. And would be a good excuse for putting 2 ebays on one Paypal. I doubt they would question it.

Would you suggest selling items on the personal accounts? Or Sell different items than the business ?

Definately keep the items different. List your highest volume items via the business account(s). List your slower moving items from the personal account(s).

See its basically all clothing i sell, theres a certain brand i cannot list for another 30 days on the personal accounts, states there is a limit put on for these items, but order brands are fine to run.. so i have upgraded 1 account attached to a business.. I will run that brand on their..

I plan to run my other brands on the personal accounts.. I never go over 30 items per account a month either
