So has anyone just made more accounts recently and just started selling cheap stuff right away? I know thats not the best way, but it leaves some of us with no choice if we want to keep selling with these limits. I just made like 4 accounts last week and Im super anxious to start selling again, lol.

jerry 12-18-2010 03:27 PM

I'm going to be making more account and more sleeper accounts because aside from these limits you also have to keep in mind of the 20k paypal ssn requirment.

If you start selling immediately then you will loose the account hands down.

You have to let account age at least 30 days and then build at least five feedbacks in 3-4 weeks then you can start selling. This way the account will stay up longer.

jbluntz 12-18-2010 03:28 PM

I kind of like the new limit actually, it makes it easier to run more accounts and you've got a whole month to figure out how to get $500 out of all those accounts.

jerry 12-18-2010 03:41 PM

I hate this new limit. When each one of your items cost $200-300 dollars the limit is nothing to break.

Selling 100+ expensive items with this limit is not possible.

I think this limit is here because of Christmas.

Imjustme, last year when they placed the phone verification requirement do you know what date they exactly reduced the requirment to the email requirement?

Maybe that date will apply to this limit.

The phone verification went away after Christmas too, because I remember I phone verified the last accounts around December 22nd last year, then in January I was able to email verify.

It could be because of Christmas indeed. They introduced the 10/100 limits in early October ...which makes January the 90 days. It could be here to stay, though ...but I guess not as strict as 10 items every 30 days for 3 months. Possibly for the 1st month, but eBay can't afford this in the long run, and they can't possibly manually review every single account that has sold 10 items. It's impossible. They're already swamped now.

sax4 12-19-2010 04:47 PM

I seem to have no limits, opened a new stealth one month ago, listed more than ten items.

Touchwood

lagoonclub 12-19-2010 04:49 PM

I still have limits on my accts, depends on category.

sax4 12-19-2010 04:52 PM

Yeah the categories mentioned seem to be mostly high-risk items. I usually dropship so I can sell other stuff no problem.

First Edition 12-19-2010 08:36 PM

The limits are different with certain items, categories, and the way it is set up.... selling limits are always there for items that are considered high risk. If they didnt have these limits, you would sell too much and get kicked off anyway.

imjustme 12-20-2010 04:16 AM

I've noticed this too. In the beginning, when I tried to list in the "Buddhist Amulets" section, for example, I got hit with a 10 limit for new accounts. Now I'm able to list even with a quantity of 45 without getting hit with a limit of 10, while in Clothing I can still only list 10 items. It seems that eBay is loosening up the restrictions.

jbluntz 12-20-2010 04:58 AM

All you gotta do is open more ebays per paypal with same info, I just opened 4 today linked to 1 paypal, thats 40 items per month or $2000, I'm gonna open another 4 over the next week for a total of 80 per month or $4000, since paypal lets you add up to 8 emails.

That increases the risk of MC010, though.

jbluntz 12-20-2010 06:04 AM

I've never gotten an mc010 on an ebay acc. with same info. On ebay accs. w/ same info I list an item right from the start w/ 0 fb and haven't had any problems.

lagoonclub 12-20-2010 10:26 AM

Good to know jbluntz, so everything is the same?

Phone number, etc. You don't even need another VCC or bank, because it's the same PayPal. It's just the exact same info, but on 2+ eBay usernames, right?

Do you also use the same IP for the "batch" of same eBays?

Yeah everything is the same, just a different email and username. Same IP and user account for the 2 accounts.

Thanks for the info.

Why doesn't eBay know this is happening (assuming they don't) and wouldn't they declare this as a violation of some policy. I mean, this pretty much circumnavigates their 10 limit policy per seller, if each seller is allowed to use the SAME information to create multiple accounts.

Either way, I'm trying it later today =].

First Edition 12-20-2010 01:12 PM

thanks for spilling the beans to the masses again.....

This is what the non stealth ebayers do already ,ebay let's you, it's no secret.

First Edition 12-20-2010 03:01 PM

People have been doing that for years yes. ebay even states you can have multiple accounts

But telling all of these new desperate people to do so is just going to make things harder in the long run

jbluntz 12-20-2010 03:19 PM

That could be but with all the millions of ebay accs. out there I kinda doubt it.

First Edition 12-20-2010 03:29 PM

Except these strategies they've put in place weren't caused by millions of users

keeon 12-20-2010 03:50 PM

China new seller 5 per month. Hong Kong 10 per month

Are you positive they double the limit with 2 accounts? Someone in a recent post (I think it was this thread, not sure) said it doesn't work like that. For example, if you're already at the 10 items limit on one account, if you add another ebay acct, that account will be maxed out as well. I'm not saying your wrong, just saying someone was saying otherwise.

I'm gonna test it myself and see what happens.

acewondersx 12-24-2010 10:00 PM

The only question I have: is this gonna be a seasonal thing like last year, or is ebay sticking with this policy year round? I pray it's not the latter.

imjustme 12-25-2010 12:08 PM

Nobody knows, really. At least not until January comes.

imjustme 12-25-2010 12:15 PM

If it helps anything, I found a seller that first started selling in August 2010, then got a selling limit of 10 items per month in October 2010, but 3 months after his first sale was able to list over 600 items since. So it does seem like it's lifted quite a bit after 3 months of active selling.

incniu 12-25-2010 05:35 PM

I agree with you!

Donot sell too much.. in a short time!

3 Sold + 7 Active
1 Sold + 9 Active
8 Sold + 2 Active

etc.

In my opinion, this is how an eBay account should be run anyways. Sell 10 items, then let the feedback come in, then sell more. Nothing wrong with that. If you sell 100 items on a brand new account, you're bound to get suspended quite fast. This limit will actually help eBay sellers, trust me.

imjustme 12-25-2010 05:49 PM

I noticed eBay updated their help pages when they introduced the selling limits. This part here explains a lot:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/new-seller-limits.html

Quote:

If your eBay account is less than 90 days old, there may be limits on the number of items you can sell. Most items on eBay don't have limits, but when listing certain items, as a new seller you'll only be able to list a few at a time.

Once you've been a seller for over 90 days and have a proven track record of providing excellent customer service and following eBay's rules and policies, these limits will be removed from your account. Since the limits are automatically removed, you don't need to do anything else.

lagoonclub 12-25-2010 11:07 PM

Automatically removed, awesome.

incniu 12-26-2010 12:26 AM

I will open more accts only when the main/first one has decent feedback.

jerry 12-26-2010 05:05 PM

Imjustme, you da' man!

Dude you just made my Christmas!

Thank you for sharing these valuable pieces of information.

So after three months your home free!

First Edition 12-26-2010 06:24 PM

He didn't post the golden ticket to success here guys.... this does not mean that ebay will grant you the ability to sell more. they could still shut you down if they choose to

jerry 12-27-2010 06:32 PM

You have to maintain good feedback and customer service and just stay under the radar for three months and then they'll remove the limit and that comes straight from ebay.

Ebay has always had the power to shut down your account, but it's our job to stay under the radar and keep the account for as long as possible.

The good thing is that at least we can sell as much as we want after the 90 days. We also have to take account of the IRS problem with paypal but that can be solved with more accounts.

So these limits were only placed due to Christmas.

Imjustme, thank you again for pointing out the change on ebay's site.

imjustme 12-28-2010 01:00 AM

I think the 3 months limit period will stay after Christmas too. And in a way, it's a good thing. It'll help you start building up the account slowly. Still after 3 months you shouldn't sell too much. Maybe 20-30 items, then wait for more FB.

holymoly 12-28-2010 01:10 AM

Maybe not an increase ASAP, but after like around 20 feedback...you should be good. Increased usually to 100, but it seems they can actually give your CUSTO limits.

jbluntz 12-28-2010 01:12 AM

Thanks to ebay's new limits I've got about 40 accounts lined up so far, if it wasn't for the new limits I probably would have stayed around 5-10 like many others. So now instead of ebay having to worry about millions of accounts now they're gonna have to start worrying about billions of accounts, what a smart strategy lol...

imjustme 12-28-2010 03:18 AM

Same here. I used to sell on the same around 30 accounts for nearly 2 years, although I have almost 100 backup accounts. In the last almost 3 months, I made over 40 more accounts and each of them have already over 10 feedback from selling.

aking 12-28-2010 09:06 AM

Im about to go make 10 now, lol.

eternity4u 12-28-2010 10:34 AM

Thank god for the holidays...i making atleast 3 accounts a day..Bought myself a netbook to make more user accounts.

jbluntz 01-01-2011 11:19 PM

Ahhh, it's the 1st of the month so you guys know what that means, time to list another 10 items @ $50 a pc on 40 accts. lol. I'm liking these limits just can't wait till the 90 days is up, just imagine 40 established seller accts. with out the new limits, THANK YOU EBAY!!!!!!!
