I'm still convinced this is due to the Christmas season. Remember that they started this in October, and giving new sellers a 90 days (3 months) period when they can't list too much. 3 months from October is ...? Right, January. Holiday season over.

The problem with that theory is it is not hitting every body in every category.

You could argue that they are picking on problematic categories, in which case we could work out what categories need to be avoided for setting up new accounts.

I wonder what happens if they begin to sell another item or start off selling one item and then switch to the offending items?

I am actually about to start doing that, so I'll update you guys.

Have multiple stealths, all selling the same VERO item in 1 category. Each stealth has 10/$500 limit.

Going to be opening up 5 more stealths this week.

On a few of them I'll be selling random stuff not in that category. On a few of them I'll be selling from that category, but not the actual VERO item.

My hope is that I can start off selling in the same category, reach the limit, call someone on eBay, then slowly start sifting in the VERO items.

We'll see I guess.

They make it harder every Christmas. At least that's how I see it. Back in 2009, 3 months before Christmas they started verifying phone numbers before listing items if you didn't log in from a recognized computer. After Christmas, they let you verify either with the eMail PIN or the phone call. It always gets easier after Christmas. This year it's the selling limit. I'm quite sure they will start dropping the selling limits again after Christmas. Or at least increase them to 100 per month for new sellers. 10 is way too low for eBay to survive. They're suspending existing sellers at a faster rate than they allow new sellers to grow.

I agree, and they will soon realize that suspending or restricting sellers is going to cost them money. We're the ones who pay the fees, and theat;s how they make money.

Suspending accounts, they don't care about that. But that's because until now sellers could always just register again and list another 100 items right from the start. No loss for eBay. But now they're suspending existing sellers that list hundreds of items, as they have always done ...but they don't allow new sellers to grow fast enough. Very soon you'll see less and less listings on eBay, because existing sellers that were able to sell a lot are still getting suspended at the same rate, while new sellers can only list 30 items in the first 3 months. So, my guess is ...this is because of the holiday season and will relax after Christmas.

Question

I opened a 2nd account, some how i started out with low amount,
Like 10 items ever 30 days and $500 limit,
Then like the 5th day i had this new account they bumped me up,
To 100 items and $5,000 a month,
I did not ask or do anything, but i notice i can only sale 10 at a time it says,
But i was able to list 18 items on a 1 week new account at once,
Then it it wouldn't let me do anymore,
Once i reach less 10 items for sale it lets me start again,
I have no idea how all this happened,
I didn't link this account or anything and i find it all strange,

You know you get 100 free listing a month right now,
Well i have listed over 18 items and still have 90 left,
Maybe a glitch or something,
I am not complaining just find this all funny,
Take advantage of this while it is working,

With my accounts, and what I'm selling, I just give them positive feedback and push for positive (have had success with that). Then I just re-list.

i figured out it works-just put 7-8 items for sale(some simple cheap stuff u can prove with reicipt) in 7-10 days and then just call ebay and ask for higher limit(make sure u have 3-5 seller feedback by this time, dont buy chinise crap for feedbacks!they will loock at your acct!)-they will do it for sure-sometimes up to 100,sometimes up to 50 items...if u creative and can show them that u doing good it will be higher!

eBay just told me I can only sell $500 a month on one new account. They are just getting ridiculous at this point. Not only does paypal hold you money, but now ebay limits your selling amount? LOL eBay won't last long with this kind of stuff going on.

I guess I'll just have to get busy and make like 10 accounts this week.
