Default ebay has restricted my new account listings: MC999

Almost 2 1/2 weeks ago I purchased a stealth account from Lakeman here in the forums. (Both eBay and Paypal), after waiting a short while I decided to list two used household items (a microphone and a mixer).

Within an hour of the posting the listings both were removed and this is what I got from eBay:

MC999 Your eBay account is restricted -

Dear XXXXXX (XXXXXXX@aol.com),

Thanks for selling on eBay. It's important that we speak with you about recent activity on your account. Your listings have been removed until we can talk with you.

To prevent your account from being closed, please contact us within the next 48 hours using this link:

http://contact.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI...s%20account%3F

Note: You may be asked to sign in. You can always sign in from the eBay home page before clicking the link above.

We appreciate your help verifying your account as quickly as possible and welcome you as a member of our community.

Thanks,

eBay

Please don't reply to this message. It was sent from an address that doesn't accept incoming email.

Now considering I also paid for a phone forwarding number, what will they ask me when I call them in the morning to check on this.
Exactly what information will they request ?
And most importantly... since my original real account was suspended by eBay with my real phone number attached, should I call them from my wifes cellphone when I respond to the message...or can I block my actual home number from eBay's prying eyes ?

Get your ducks in a row.

First off PM the seller and ask his opinion

I already have..so that duck is already lined up.
The purpose for the post however, is to see if any other forum members have shared this same experience yet and how they handled it.
One thing I've learned about this forum is quite often there are several differing courses of actions taken when problems like this occur.

And I was was basically reaching out for feedback from the entire community as well as awaiting a response from the account seller.

Got that

Sorry I can't help further as I have never had this. I would say though have all the info in front of you when you call. Personally I would call from a SIM that has never been used before. I don't see what else you can do as doing nothing does not appear to be an option.

My guess is that they may ask for some ID docs - that's not an insurmountable problem

MC999 can go well or go poorly. Questions vary per account call. Exaclty as you said, users have different experiences.

Ideally you should call from the number on record. (Not always possible I do understand). Be aware ebay might notice the number differs if it's not blocked.

Do those ducks in a row include all details of the account? Do you know as much as you can about the 'stealth you' If you appear confident when talking that often helps to get the account restored.

I don't buy accounts. Period. They NEVER worked out. And I know why. No offense to any of the account sellers. Everyone needs the stealth guide, mix in a little common sense, and you're good to go.

If you browse around and build feedback first that won't happen, I've sold on purchased accounts in the past without any problems. Alot of people that buy accounts are too eager to jump on and start selling without doing anything else to get the account established first, that doesn't work too well.

I have been selling accounts for around 2 years now, with very few people who have encountered problems. I know what I'm doing when it comes to making accounts and getting back onto ebay/pp.

One of the first things you should do, is add a phone number you have access to, to your account. All it takes is one missed call from ebay/pp and they will suspend you. Luckily, it's not that hard to get back on when they do, but it's ALMOST completely preventable.

Lakeman's ability to make accounts is NOT pertinent to this user's problems.

By ASSUMING you made yourself look.....

Rest assured as soon as ANY sellers name is mentioned, I pm the poster to see what might be wrong. The OP and I had a long convo earlier. We are waiting for resolution.

Never got a message from you about your alleged problem nor can I recall a thread.

A new account, be it purchased or made, needs to be used in a certain manner.

That is NOT the issue of this thread.

The issue is the MC999.

I have stated the OP and I have discussed the problem. Seller of the account, buyer of the account and I have all exchanged messages.

An explanation should be forthcoming.

You jumped in and want to take the thread off topic. It is not happening.

Respect that NOW.

Ok, well here's the update.

I called eBay this evening from a previously un-associated cell phone.
They never called me... I was told by the service rep (so as far as me providing them a forwarding number that wasn't the problem either...because it is listed on both eBay and PayPal).

The problem is they are randomly confirming identity's of new accounts.

The rep I spoke with informed me that they use a series of randomly generated questions that only the actual account owner should be able to answer.
These questions are DIRECTLY related to the account owners' County and City, so this indicative of a credit bureau report of somesort.

In addition after a short wait while she attempted to generate the questions, she informed me she was unable to acquire any questions due to the lack of information associated with the stealth user name that I purchased.

I was told that because there wasn't enough information associated with my account, I would have to fax in 2 of the following documents.

1) Drivers License or ID
2) Credit Card statement
3) Or a Utility Bill

So it seems that unless I can provide documentation, not sure what to do

OK so what now, because I'm literally going broke.

Same exact thing happen to me they told me they couldn't generate any questions and i had to fax documents in. I didn't get documents in time but if i did i bet the account would be fine! Im sure someone will pm and help you with documents.

Oh...and I did browse around for 2 weeks, and these were my first initial listings...both were household used items (a microphone and a mixer), so it wasnt a VERO issue.
So how am I expected to build feedback and this was my first listing ?

The bottom line is as the rep said....Theres not enough information associated with the account owner to randomly generate questions that I could have answered.

So now what ?
