| | | ploughman | 05-23-2013 04:25 PM | FWIW, it's normally a slower period for me, but the past month or so has been unusually drought-y.
I haven't found specific competitive reasons, and eBay and Amazon are both off by about the same percentage. The graph might look like previous years, except with a sharper dip. Volumes are looking like early 2009.
I haven't checked the pageview numbers but they're probably scary as well. Usually weekends like Easter and Mother's Day are slow, but no bump afterward this year. Sunday has been the busiest day.
Overall economy is said to be improving, but gas prices aren't great and retailers like Target that depend on the 99% having money to spend don't seem to be doing so great lately.
Until this recent Tax ID issue with PayPal I've been trying to ride it out, figuring it's a good opportunity to catch up on getting better organized and doing more listings (which I haven't done as much as I thought I'd do). But if it drags on too long it'll be worrisome. |

Candid analysis there.
Thank you

| stanislav | 09-10-2013 11:30 PM | Re: Alert!!! Slow sales on ebay! Why is no one talking about slow sales on eBay? It's September and I feel like sales aren't where they should be. Is it the economy or is it eBay's search broken again? |
Re: Alert!!! Slow sales on ebay! So many variables stanislav - a lot depends on your niche, wouldn't you figure? I mean - back-to-school supplies might be booming! (example) |
| Callidus | 10-06-2013 02:23 PM | Re: Alert!!! Slow sales on ebay! Sales have been fantastic for me since mid September. As an example sold 120 units of an item im selling for £27 since 3rd October. Not a seasonal item either and will ALWAYS be in demand. |

| stanislav | 08-08-2014 03:27 AM | Re: Alert!!! Slow sales on ebay! Here we go again ... I've been listing more products than ever. Paying about $4000 in fees every month and sales have declined by about 70% since April. WTF is happening with eBay ... |
Re: Alert!!! Slow sales on ebay! $4000 in fees but no sales...what are you paying for? Initial listing price? |

| stanislav | 08-08-2014 11:51 PM | Re: Alert!!! Slow sales on ebay! It's not that many. I run a lot of auctions. It used to be that a lot of buyers would snap and just buy my product before it ended now auctions don't get any exposure. I used to get about 150-250 viewed for each listing, now I get 1-2 views, some of my auctions get a bit more views. People who still claim that eBay traffic has not subsided are completely wrong. Those of you who claim that eBay redirects traffic only to large mega sellers are probably wrong too because I have been monitoring large sellers and their sales plummeted especially side April, well before May announcement about eBay hack. |
| stanislav | 08-09-2014 12:07 AM | Re: Alert!!! Slow sales on ebay! I used to monitor one seller selling particular product that I was selling too however his price was literally $3 more than mine and he was selling at least 15-20 units while I was about 10. We are both top rated plus sellers. So then I did a little bit of more searching around and found out that if you were looking for this particular product on google by typing no more than 3 main keywords that an eBay link would appear at the top google search results. Then around April if I am not mistaken his link was way down but still on page one on google. So then all of a sudden one day I noticed he ended about 500 of his listings and relisted again. I didn't know why but now I suspect he noticed decrease in sales probably due to poor ranking on google. I think this is what caused him to realist all of his listings in an attempt to revamp his sales. I can tell you his is selling literally a fraction of what he used to. Same products, some new but sales aren't like they used to be. Most of his top best match products all were selling more than 10 items, a lot of them aren't anymore. eBay is broke ladies and gentleman and top management probably doesn't know how to deal with all that is happening. I won't be surprised if JD doesn't even know what really is happening to his company to an extent that sellers like me know from first hand experience. |
| Geegee83 | 08-09-2014 04:41 AM | Re: Alert!!! Slow sales on ebay! I've got my original eBay account, TRS, 0.54 defect rate, 100% feedback at the moment etc etc.. 20,000 feedback, so very established!
If I list something new on that account I'll not get many sales... if I list it on a stealth it'll most likely sell within the week.. An account that has just 3 or 4 feedback.. go figure! |
| Geegee83 | 08-09-2014 04:43 AM | Re: Alert!!! Slow sales on ebay! Also, I've noticed when I search for items, it's hardly ever the TRS at the top, but sometimes new sellers, so the search must not be working.
I try not to look into conspiracy theories too much, and there are plenty on eB UK Community Boards, but most of them are selling rubbish junk really and that's why their sales have gone.. but I do agree that eB are not showing things like they used to and maybe are rotating visibility and sharing it with others. |

I had listings with say 5 size variations, the price going up for the bigger sizes (stickers), but people searching were just seeing the highest price and scrolling past.. Changed the variations and stuck to the smaller sizes and sales go up.
eBay plugging this variations in one listing rubbish, it didn't help me! | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 08:38 AM. | |
