Too busy to go to any estate sales this weekend
Week has been so hectic.
I did find a couple things at Goodwill though.
I found some Adobe Software and a Black Sabbath Record

Not only a cool find but a hard find. 99% of the time vinyls are crap bands.

Come on guys and gals! This thread is fun! Let's keep it alive!
Let's see, the other day I found...
Some Barbie dolls new in the box at Goodwill. They were actually not really worth anything. But I had a pile stack in front of me while I was checking them out. A girl comes up and grabs one off the top of my pile. I tell her I'm looking at them. She apologizes and then keeps trying to grab the other ones off my pile!
I tell her to stop that I'm looking at all of them and please stop grabbing them.
It was funny cause I saw them sitting there for a while. I finally walked over, grabbed all 5 to start researching on my phone. Then suddenly everyone is interested in them. So stupid. The time it took me to research them was literally 2 minutes and I put them back.
The girl then grabbed them, walked around with them for 20 minutes and put them back as well.
I learned that at Goodwill everyone gets interested in something that you are holding. They think if you show interest then it must be worth something.
I've also learned that Goodwill thinks Barbies are worth a lot. Even though they sell so cheaply at Walmart that they're resale value is just pathetic.
I'm actually surprised those Barbies weren't behind the glass counter. I have a few Goodwills who keep all the nib Barbies behind the glass counter where they keep the "valuables".
I joke you not, there is one Goodwill that has 4 barbies behind the counter that have been there for a year!

Good for me because it tells me someone has no clue how to price things. Then turned around and found a 1990s NBA barbie for 2.99.
I see many people just grab everything they can and put it into their card and pull off the the side and look at everything to only be a lazy butt and leave the cart sit full of stuff and only take the few things they want.

Some of my finds for today
Harley boots, new in box!!! Mega score. 15.00
Harley Helmet 15.00
Harley saddlebags 25.00 like new
Vintage Texas Instrument calculator in box never used.
1940s bowling trophies. I believe the bottom is bakelite.
Box of 1960-70s hot wheels
Box of 1970's halloween costumes in original boxes.
Several early chrome faucets with porcelain centers.
Lots of feedback builders and other cool items.
Found another crossbow and it already sold on craiglists. Look for these people I am seeing a lot of them being sold.
Cabelas hunting jacket, new with tags 10.00
Today was a big score day, every sale I went to I found something.
Had to hit the ATM more then once.

Just the other day at ARC there was a guy checking out in front of me. He had a cart full of crap. He bought like 10 items out of his cart. Discussing every single item from his cart.
After he picked out what he wanted he left the rest of the items in the cart and just pushed it to the side. We all know how slow those places are at getting the crap back on the shelves too.
What a waste.

Found myself a very nice Bose item at a garage sale for $2. It is brand new in the box and goes for $100+.
Also found a Panasonic portable VHS player. Goes for $150+. I've found that many vintage Panasonic items sell well and for good prices.
I also got my hands on lots of cassette tapes. I paid $.25 for a bunch that I'm selling for $10+ each.

Good job BG.
The bose in the original box should easily sell for 120 or more.
Is it 1990's?

Damn Sandy! You scored HUGE! I am majorly jealous
I only went to one garage sale and got some tiny vintage knick knacks. I can't wait to start hitting those estate sales again. Haven't had the time with the moving and all.
How many garage sales total did you go to?

Maybe 7-8.
Couple were bust but the good ones were very good.
Not normal for sure.
Usually have to hit 15-20 or huge community sales to get that much good stuff.
Lucky for sure.
Hey those knick knacks are great feedback builders.

rsot - Hell no VHS players don't sell. But I think biggun got some sort of special portable one. That could be a different story.

Scored big time last night at an auction house.
Great antiques and collectibles buys and tons of box lots.
Most are usually fb builders but not these box lots. filled with antique smalls, jewelry, silver and silver plate, murano glass etc. for 2.50 to 5.00 per box.
But the box, and I mean the box was the 5.00 box with 55 HP ink cartridges in it. Sticker priced from 14.99 to 40.00, 55 of these for 5.00. What in the heck were people thinking? Amazing.
Have not gone through all the boxes so far but the ones I did pull out some great stuff tells me anywhere from 100 to 200 per box or more.
The other big score was a rare 1960's Fenton hand painted student lamp for 10.00.
Also scored a group of Fender stuff that I have no clue what they are let alone the values. No music equipment knowledge but know they were a great buy as a group.
Should bring 400+.

Interesting item to keep an eye out for at the various sales... I noticed a vintage Rolex box, BOX ONLY, sell for well over $300 on ebay. Had 30 or so bids too. Note to self...

raf - I think I have seen that same clock about a year ago. It was in non-working condition as well.
What's the plaque say? Maker & Year & Origin?

I always go and take pictures, come home a research and take my notes back with me.
I could not help you with this because you needed to provide more info, what the plaques state etc.
First one is interesting. Also the type of product the 1st one is made of might be of importance.
Not working is mostly a bad thing but if you can buy it and fix it or get it fixed then it changes things.
