Default Paypal Security Increased With Last Update?

I had five accounts go down this week. All of them a year old, I kept track of IPs, had cookies saved on different user accounts on my computer, etc.

And yet every single one of them went down. One of them even went down for a $150 payment whereas my average payments for that account are much higher.

However, one thing I did notice is that whenever I tried to send payment, I would have to put in my bank account number for that account. I did that for each account, and yet I was still limited. Is anyone else having to put in bank accounts or otherwise do verification?

Is anyone else experiencing increased Paypal limitations?

Did you ever have to do any sort of verification, like enter your bank account number or confirm a call?

Thing is, I'm not either, which is weird as to why I'm suddenly having these issues. My router can latch on to specific IP's by changing the Mac address, and I also tether through phone which uses a fixed IP until I go into airplane mode.

Could it be a regional thing? This never happens when I go to Texas, although in California I see these random verifications on my accounts all the time.

Every now and then they'll ask me to call when sending money, then I'll just cancel the request and come back later and it'll be gone.

It sounds like you slipped up somewhere and linked your accounts.

Maybe it was not so much on PayPal's end but maybe on eBay's end.

If you're on a Mac, different user accounts (windows/workspaces) cannot be linked to each other unless you link them by IP address, correct?

I'm not sure what's linking me then. All I know is I have to enter a bank account as verification to send payments.

Then again, these are Paypals I had purchased a year ago and have been using, some of them from you jbluntz. I'm not trying to say there's anything wrong with your service, I just wonder if "creation IP" has anything to do with the new Paypal security system.

What I'll start looking into is creating my own Paypals with my own banks instead of purchasing them. Do you know any banks where you can open accounts online easy? I assume ING Direct is not an option.

ING can be used with nicknames but I would leave it well alone

Because you are having problems I would look at BoA. It has been a consistently good perfoming bank for stealth purposes.

While there is a possibility of changes with paypal I would stick to the 'normal' banks.

Thanks for the tip. I've opened an account with BoA.

I'm still not entirely sure of the importance of "origin IP" regarding Paypal accounts.

My Paypals that collect payment are not linked to my eBay because I invoice separately so customers never go through eBay checkout and I don't get any holds. However, my method for extracting the funds has been to send the money to my main Paypal that is fully verified, and then withdraw from there. I will see what I can do about forgoing that process and simply adding banks to the other Paypals.
