Just had this happen to me, sent in stealth documents.
Then got email asking for more information:

Am i related to anyone in a political party or some bs.
+ asking to submit an ID verification form at Austpost

What actually happens if you submit 'Original Stealth' documents via the Austpost Verification and it fails because its Stealth .... does PayPal permantly limit the account I assume?

you will fail because you need to present your original id cards etc, in person at australia post.

'Original Stealth' Birth Certificate is easy, same with utility bill. The people at one of my local post office are from another planet, sometimes i don't think there all there in the head.

But when the documents fail verification i wonder if PP automatically permanantly limit the account or release it since you have complied with there requests.

I don't see any work around on the AustPost verification thing.

The limed PP only has $340 in it, not concerned too much about that, the eBay accounts are more valuable.

It fails IF the TS of paypal are not carefully read and applied.

Haha I thought she was a he too.

This type of stuff is worrying to read. Ebay will find a way to kill stealth at some point.

So basically if PP hit you with the Australia Post verification after you've already faxed them your documents it's all over??

re-read this, jscan.

Things are in the pipeline and nothing confirmed that is SUITABLE as a workaround.

That is pleasing to hear then. For now it looks like I will 'write off' the ebay accounts + limited PayPal.

Am I missing something or can you just use a different courier?

Surely eB can't insist you use Auspost can they?

In the UK, something like a guitar is far more expensive, perhaps more than twice as, to post via Royal Mail than it is by a big-name courier.

We are talking about removing the limits for the $1000 anti-money laundering rules in Australia.

We are talking about paypal & ID of accounts.

We are not talking about ebay or item delivery.

Isn't the OP having trouble getting the guitar shipped because Austpost needs original docs to tie up with those in the payment method, PP?

Edit - bet this is being replied to as I type...

I see... so AustPost is being used as an identification varification service, nothing to do with shipping.

That's real financial repression isn't it? I doubt a rich person has to lower themselves by popping into a local branch to sell on their antiques or Aston Martin (do they??). And does that also apply to receiving money in a bank? Why PP? odd..

As far as i can see, there is no way around this. I actually tried to convince the young girl at the post office to accept my copies and i played dumb, but no luck - she showed me, the computer specifically states they need originals.

anyone else had this problem and is there a solution?

Crux of the issue.

Guitar triggered this.

What happens if you're a business? Who's identity would it be, what if the owner/manager is out of the country?

Hopefully I'll pick up a tip or two if a solution comes about..

Those pesky guitars! Guitar=grass. That's why I prefer keyboards, more loyal.

Update: So I had my PayPal limited last week due to money laundering.

I sent in the required 'stealth documents', yet PayPal threw me the Political relations question + Aust Post verification. I thought this was the end and searched for possible work arounds to no avail.

Then on Sunday night I sent them a polite but forceful email saying that I complied with there original requests providing them documents, answering there politcal questions and the Aust Post verification was ridiculous and a waste of my time. If they had originally required this, they should have said so in the first place. + mentioning my account history, no disputes 100% feedback on eBay etc. I also said I could provide them with any further documents required in necessary via upload.

Today i see an email from PayPal sent at 2:37AM, my account has been fully restored, and apologies for any inconvenience caused.

While I am certainly under no illusion that this may be short lived and the account could be limited/restricted/closed again, it does prove you can beat them with stealth + aust post verification. I have now paid my ebay fees + withdrawn the balance. This whole thing has taught me to increase my "back up" stealth accounts.

A special thanks to Greenbean for the consulting

As I have tried to say, it's a grey area.

But, there are work arounds.

The very best is to NOT PANIC when paypal present these dramas.
