Default Made refund to wrong buyer

Okay..so a buyer wanted a refund. I said to myself okay whatever.

So I went to paypal and issued the guy a refund; the item was worth like 10 bucks and after the refund my balance dropped to like 8 bucks. So I was like okay w/e but a few days later the buyer was like.."I still haven't received my refund if you dont give it to me today im contacting ebay." so i'm like..what the ef is going on. So I double checked the buyer name to check to see if I refunded the right person..and I had not..I refunded a perfectly satisfied buyer who had a VERY similar ebay name to the guy I was suppose to refund.

So I explained to the buyer that I accidently refunded the wrong person; the buyer hasnt responded yet. But to add insult to injury; paypal is sending funds from my bank acc to pp to pay for the refund cause I had no available funds and now the buyer is really going to be flipping out because she has to wait like 5 more days. =x I hope I don't get a negative =(

To add even greater insult..I cant get back the refund I sent to the satisfied buyer..to my knowledge atleast.

Well what I learned from all this is..make sure you're refunding the right buyer =x

That really sucks :/

I developed OCD with everything I do on eBay. Always double, triple checking everything going on when it comes to money. That way you will never have that problem ever again.

It happens.

We all have done this.

For me, I do double check everything and make sure I am correct.

It does take extra time but with running tons of accounts and money coming in and going out we all need to double check our work. Especially the money end of it.

Hope it works out for you LM.

Did the buyer understand that you need to transfer money and then they will get the refund?

Communication with them is essential in this case.

It happens that is why is stopped going by username and started issuing refunds by first and last name.

I would contact the buyer who received the refund by mistake and ask if he/she would send the payment again. Explain the situation to this buyer and see what happens. What have you got to lose?

I did it with $40 once. I only contacted the lucky buyer and told him we do random sweeps and his purchase ID came up as the lucky one so we gave him item for free. Feedback was glaring...lol

Had to eat the other and refund again....

I know from experience if you contact paypal and explain your story to them, they will send an email to the buyer you refunded in error on your behalf.
If no response they limit there account until resolved.
Although i would've bother with this $10 amount ..
It still shocks me how dishonest some people can be.

We all learn from mistakes. For 10 bucks I am agreeing. Move on.
