Default Too many computers, did I get linked??

I have worked for weeks cleaning out my main computer and my laptop trying to go stealth and my laptop of every link, cookie, ip change ect... I look over and my husband was on ebay with his laptop! I asked him how he got to the link and he said off of his bookmark. He does not have an account to log in BUT will they link the old ip that he saved it on and the one I got suspended from to the new one? I was ALMOST there

If you did not login it shouldn't be a problem

You cannot 'save' an ip address, it is supplied by your ISP be it static or dynamic.

He browsed eb as an unregistered guest user from HIS laptop.

So long as you have NOT used your own eb/pp a/c's to login from your husband's laptop (this is a SEPARATE machine to your own laptop/'main' computer), you ought to be 'OK'.

I used to use that laptop a while back but I think??? I cleared it out from time to time. Ok I guess since he did not log into anything I hope we will be fine. I just worried about the bookmark being to one ip that was suspend and then opened in a new ip that I was working on. I am a panic crazy person with the ips and cookies now!!

^^I am a bit confused by you saying this.^^ the bookmark itself does not retain or have an 'ip' address logged or tied to it.....

He browsed from an unregistered eb a/c as a guest user on a computer previously used by a banned eb/pp a/c.

No registered eb a/c was logged into, to link it to a banned eb a/c.....so no eb a/c have been compromised in this manner.

Sorry I am not a computer wiz. I just was not sure what was tracked with cookies. I just thought for sure a bookmark had a cookie from when someone went to a page. I just did not want them thinking hey this person looked at this item with the same link but a new ip. Guess I should not call this "linking" more like "tracking". Not sure how much info is saved with just a cookie.

A browser bookmark doesn't have a relation with the cookies. cookies are stored separately. A browser bookmark cannot open a VPN service and change the IP address. How do you swtich your IPs? Please use some good IP switching method.

I do not switch IP's I have not found a "easy" way to do this because I have roadrunner and it takes forever to change it by unplugging it. I just use a separate user on my computer. So I am just have one new account.

If your having a hard time changing IP's I would suggest you get a Dongle.
Here are a few:

Smartphones | 4G Phones | Compare Smartphones & 4G Phones | T-Mobile

Mobile Hotspots & Mobile Internet | Verizon Wireless

My advise, as per MM78 above too, is to have your "OWN" broadband connection that you use for eB yourself, exclusively. Then you have your seperate Windows user account on your seperate laptop and via your seperate internet connection.

You can do this by getting mobile broadband for your laptop - a mobile broadband dongle that plugs into your USB port. It is easy to change IP address with that too, easier than most home broadband.

If you then have exclusive use of this broadband connection and exclusive use of this laptop, then you can grow confidence and learn to run multiple eb/pp accounts in the future.

You will find it hard to control other internet users in your household, how they connect to eB etc so best to let them use that internet connection for their free use (and you too as long as your browsing had nothing to do with eB/PP)

Should be easy to do - just create a new windows user and everything should be seperate.

If you want to get rid of any other old windows user accounts or old cookies etc and be 100% sure of a new start, just back up all your work/documents etc onto a separate storage drive, reformat your hard drive and re-install windows.

You could also get a tech-savvy friend to install a brand new hard drive into your laptop and turn your OLD harddrive into an external USB drive that you can still access (therefore you won't have forgotten to back anything up!). Small sized, old stock but new HDs should be relatively cheap these days.
