Ebay catches on to those things eventually. It is a very short term solution

Impossible. EBay will not 'catch on' to indistinct sellers selling category specific items for relatively low value. There will be nothing connecting my gazillion eBay seller accounts to one another. The only way eBay will 'catch on' is if they decide to stop allowing unverified PayPal's to take in £650. Can't see that happening tomorrow...

Plus, we have to see the current situation as a short term solution, no matter how great it may seem at the moment. Tomorrow morning PayPal could decide to change the 21-day hold to 30, eBay could permanently decrease sellers limits, it would put people out of business immediately.

It's all short term with eBay. Learning to sail the ship on good seas is easy. Throwing out sturdy inflatable life-boats when the storm hits is the key to eBay/stealth survival !!

If you haven't gathered from my first post, PayPal have hit me HARD this week. I've lost money that I was banking on (£3.5k) due to some a-hole scammer doing a PayPal chargeback and my Mum missed out on a pressie for her 60th Birthday that I'll not be able to buy ever again. It had been planned for 9 months. I'll never risk using PayPal properly again. I just can't. Hence the unverified PPs approach is my choice for now.

I hear ya. EBay rarely know you've even done it because I've often offered to 'cancel the sale' so the seller gets their fees back. Nothing is matching the 'personal payment' to the goods being sent. EBay think no sale. PayPal see a personal payment.

Some things are worth a little patience. Most people have to wait a whole month for their wages...

Can you just cash out by buying a collectable that you can sell on for cash locally? Hifi or studio gear is a good option - plenty of variation in prices and lots of classic or high-end gear around for a few hundred quid. Might even manage to buy cheap and make a little more profit on top.

Many people want PP even when you're collecting - or you can force their hand by pushing them into starting an unpaid item dispute, then you're 'forced' to pay with PP to close the dispute promptly, apologise (a busy week etc) and then go to pick up.

Then sell on an enthusiast's forum or in gumtree or wherever.

I do not understand this post.

majority want cash on collection.

the second not paid dispute idea is interesting - not sure if I would want the hostility when collecting, and the seller marking as paid would be how the dispute would get closed, rather than getting paid via paypal, but still....

a while back people were saying the freelancer site method could be a flag, eg create a job and buy it.

would be helpful to hear from anyone that has done it.

People sell stuff on consumer forums and ask for Paypal Gift payments.

Yes the Freelance idea is a good un.....bid on jobs with verified PP, win multiple jobs from unverified clients
