Default Family member's accounts

Hi all,

My household has had a three eb accounts registered under the address. All with real information (myself, dad, and mum)

Now since my account has been indefinitely suspended I'm not sure how safe their legitimate accounts are. I assume that our address would be now red flagged.

They're just the average ebay users - buy some things, sell some house hold goods etc. They have sold and bought since my ban a few weeks ago. However they've been gifted a few high value brand name items that they would like to sell (seems fairly high risk to me at this stage).

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts about this situation. How at-risk are their accounts at this stage?

They think I am being paranoid, but I just don't want their accounts to be as safe as possible right now.

Cheers.

The accounts are linked without any doubt.

Their accounts are at serious risk of suspension. It may not happen next week or even next month but it will happen at some point.

This is what I was thinking, but under what terms could they be suspended? Apart from the fact that ebay is ebay.

No dealing with vero or counterfeit items, not running multiple accounts in their names, up to date with fees, etc. They're the ideal ebay user. All of their emails and accounts are unique, verified and separate to mine.

Not sure what you mean?? The reason given for suspension will be that their accounts are linked to a suspended user.

That's pretty much what I meant.

eg. Will they suspend my parent's accounts because the address is the same as my suspended account. Even if they do nothing else wrong?

Or will they have to something provocative and get someone to have a closer look at the account first? eg. neg feedback, flagged listing, etc.

Yes, ebay might decide to suspend them simply because of the same address.

They are on a time bomb now.

Bottom line will be how serious YOUR suspension was.

Was suspended for having a linked restricted account that I made a few years ago and never used.

imo if they were to be suspended I feel as if they could appeal their case. But I haven't been in this scene long enough. Any thoughts on that?

Will just have to wish for the best I suppose.

Appealing to Ebay is like speaking to a brick wall.

Since you are linked to a restricted account
its gonna be hard to convince them in this scenario
One link to bad apples all of those apples will become bad too

Stealth up.

Very tough to appeal. When you were suspended, did you appeal? Win?

As other posters said...all accounts are on thin ice currently

I did not appeal, as I think it was fair game that they suspended me - I do not want to appeal the suspensions that have already been handed out.

I understand that the two accounts (my parent's account) are now red flagged for my suspended accounts.

So even though their accounts are legitimate and clean of strikes, your personally opinions would be that a successful appeal (if they were to be suspended) would be unlikely because of the link to me?

That's like saying if one account in a house is suspended, all accounts in the household regardless of circumstances are burnt.

Edit: Not trying to sound like I am complaining, just want to get my head around the experiences/opinions of the members of the forum.

Erik555594! You can do one thing to avoid Ebay suspending your parent's account. Put an apartment number to each of your parents acc. even if both account under the same address. If Ebay link and suspend them. Just call, pretend to be to your parents and let Ebay know that your this is multi family house and they are not associated w/ the suspended acc (your acc.)

That may just work,
especially if those accounts are squeaky clean.

Future accounts should be setup to avoid linkage - the apartment idea is a valid one...hopefully accounts never go to manual review

Thanks for the ideas.

I guess changing addresses is the way to go.

I do have a PO BOX available, so one of the accounts can be set up with that address, and the other with an apartment number.

Would it be best to do this as soon as possible, or maybe let the accounts sit quietly for a while first?

If you have these resources, I would probably recommend using the new addresses for new accounts - just let these accounts be for now - not worth wasting new info on old linked accounts.

Chances are that even with the linking, they could survive but only time well tell...nothing is 100% with eb/pp
