| | | Tag123 | 10-15-2014 10:08 PM | Re: Paypal does not recognize my computer So PP sent me an email back but it was just an automated response. I have to do a withdraw tomorrow so if it is still asking for verification I will have to call. I can tell you all that I was wrong, it is NOT an IP issue (at least it isn't now. It may have started out as one). They clearly have a handle on "suspect" accounts. When I log in, it still says my account is verified. There is no indication that anything is wrong unless I try to withdraw. This is crazy. One way or another I will find out what's up even if it means losing the account. |
| keepongoing | 10-16-2014 10:12 AM | Re: Paypal does not recognize my computer I agree with your opinion tag.
I believe the original alert flag on pp side came from an IP issue. and now it has led to an ongoing issue with the account that was flagged. many of the people who can get the call/text keep getting asked for it on a w/d everytime.
I believe this will eventually lead to a ssn request. |
| Tag123 | 10-16-2014 10:42 AM | Re: Paypal does not recognize my computer Ok, I got a response via email from an actual PP rep. Thank you for contacting PayPal Customer Support. I am happy to assist you today.
I see your PayPal account is verified, but what is happening is our security is trying to verify that it is actually you trying to withdraw the money. This usually means our system will call you directly or send a text message with a secret code in it to verify that the actual account holder is withdrawing the money. If this is not available, the withdraw will not be processed, sort of a better safe than sorry approach. I have taken steps to ensure we are still securing your account but you should be able to initiate the withdrawal now without any trouble. I do apologize for the trouble, but assure you it was intended to protect you.
It is my pleasure to assist you. Thank you for choosing PayPal.
I never received a call FROM them. However, whatever they did, now my withdraw's are working again. I really want to reply back and ask a few more question, but I think I may leave well enough alone for now. If it happens again I'll reply directly to the email that this note was in. |

I have used them before and was not using them any more as I had switched to tracfone. But tracfone was not even working with those verification phone calls.
So on one account when I got that I figured ah what the heck and did pinger number and the call came thru no this number isnt registered to you stuff. So all went well. |
| oooSMOKYooo | 10-16-2014 08:53 PM | Re: Paypal does not recognize my computer So no UK users had this issue?
How do pp verify your phone, privacy laws in UK wont allow this surly if it stems to over here?
Not good with the pp/eb split though. Bigger pp means better security.
No issues as yet x6 UK 60% verified acts withdrawing latly anyway! |
| progetter92 | 10-16-2014 09:29 PM | Re: Paypal does not recognize my computer Kept happening to me to so I just called them spoke to a rep he asked me what i was trynna buy i told him and he took the stupid verify **** off and it worked. |

No issues as yet x6 UK 60% verified acts withdrawing latly anyway! | They verify your phone by sending a code to your mobile or an automated call with a code. Haven't heard of anyone getting this in the UK though as of yet. |
| natbabes | 10-17-2014 09:06 AM | Re: Paypal does not recognize my computer Well I've just done a small £10 withdrawal to test it. No phone verification message & it's shown completed straight away :) my balance is at £19.27 now so i'm not withdrawing any more for a few days until I've sold more stock when it arrives as it is advised not to completely clean the account of funds. |
| keepongoing | 10-17-2014 10:16 AM | Re: Paypal does not recognize my computer I have emailed them 4 times about this, everytime they keep sending me some generic self help email. I cant get the withdraw lifted. my account is 100 percent verified and fine yet I cant wd because of the stupid call/text option. looks like I have no choice but to call in. other people have gotten this fixed by emailing them, but I really think pp is seriously a joke, they just respond with some help guided email....
I will report back when I call in. |
| Tag123 | 10-17-2014 02:16 PM | Re: Paypal does not recognize my computer So the nice PP rep fixed my locked up withdraw issue the other day, however, on a subsequent withdraw this morning I was again asked to receive a phone call to verify my account. This brings be back to thinking that it is my IP address changing all the time that is the root of what is causing this. I called ATT and I can indeed get a Static IP for my Mifi wireless modem. It will only cost me $3/mo extra. Question, are there any downsides to getting a static IP? I only access this one PP account using this wireless device. I access my other account using my home ISP connection (which is static too). Both the static IP's would of course be different. |
| blockhead | 10-17-2014 03:19 PM | Re: Paypal does not recognize my computer For me, it's not related to IP or cookies, because I have used the same IP and cookies on every step.
CC & Bank verified.
Here's the funny thing. Made a w/d a couple weeks ago no issues. Fast forward to today and I'm getting the phone verify thing. Followed by the error "your name does not match the phone" or whatever it is. I'm using a burner with all the info matching, but it's a burner.
Fairly new account, just shy of a month, but like I said before, I w/d a couple weeks ago no issues, about the same size of w/d |
| keepongoing | 10-17-2014 03:36 PM | Re: Paypal does not recognize my computer wow thanks for updating guys. I really am convinced then now this is related to the ISP IP setup.
I have a whole nother account, on a totally different ISP company and it has been working fine.
FOR THE RECORD. the account I am using that has issues is setup via ATT u verse.
could it be related to ATT? |

I am thinking about switching to Static IP for my Mifi. I can't think of a reason why I shouldn't. |
| andy806 | 10-17-2014 08:02 PM | Re: Paypal does not recognize my computer I'm pretty certain that it has nothing to do with the ISP. Possibly with change of IP address but most likely paypal added some security measure this past two weeks. |

Possibly with change of IP address but most likely paypal added some security measure this past two weeks. | I emailed PP and the rep looked at my account and said it was verified. He said that when I do a withdraw PP the security is trying to verify that it is actually me doing the withdraw. This prompts a phone call. What he didn't say is WHY it is being prompted to do so. Again, I suspect that it is the change in my IP address that always happens. I think I am going to go with the static IP and see if this makes a difference. No doubt, PP implemented something new that is causing this. |
| isellmore59 | 10-17-2014 10:22 PM | Re: Paypal does not recognize my computer I emailed them 2 times and all I get is self help reply and today they sent me a survey.I really told them what I think.Maybe it will help.Hope so. |
| astralman | 10-17-2014 11:51 PM | Re: Paypal does not recognize my computer Email doesn't work for most people anymore. They want you to call in. Kinda stupid waiting on the phone for long times. I'm getting this we can't recognize your device with phone number and text even after it's added on my account with a mobile company and still get it's not in your name. This is for sure a database they check and it's stupid because people change their numbers everytime for all kinds of reasons or didn't pay the number in time and get a different number. I called and rep told me it should go away in a few hours and to not make multiple attempts at payment when it's not working because paypal security system is sensitive and might restrict my account automatically the system. The rep tried to do a manual override and said it might work or might not, but to try later. Must be for holidays. If this continues year after year this means they must be losing millions of dollars due to bad people and they are trying to cut down their losses, but this will also give them losses of putting strict security system in. Until they see the losses they won't change anything. Pity on paypal security system. Also you used to get the security questions, credit card number, and bank account number verification, but not anymore. |

| pr0wake | 10-20-2014 02:26 PM | Re: Paypal does not recognize my computer I emailed from two more accounts with troubles. I plan on calling but I'm trying to figure out a solid way around this.
before, setting my phone as a "work" number allowed me to get gv calls... but it no longer does.
ill update everyone asap |
| pr0wake | 10-20-2014 07:59 PM | Re: Paypal does not recognize my computer on both accounts that had the issue, sending the email fixed it once again, no further action needed.
so when you get the prompt to call or email, click on email, then choose the correct category. Im not exactly sure of the main category, but the subcategory is definitely "withdrawing"
ask them to fix and they will
the rest of my accounts have been fine. good luck everyone! |

| Tag123 | 10-20-2014 09:42 PM | Re: Paypal does not recognize my computer I think it was a bug with PP's verification SW. I emailed and got a response that it was fixed but the next time I had to withdraw I had to get a call to verify again. This was two days ago. thanks guys!!! | Called in, they asked what type of phones I was using (i have 2 on the acct) I said cell phones, they said you have to call your cell phone company and allow paypal to call with the verification code, that my cellphone company has them blocked or something to that effect
pretty sure that makes no damn sense at all. in the meantime they manually processed my bank transfer |

FWIW, probably not much, the one who gave me static yesterday and didn't put my transfer through sounded Irish. The one who took the phone verify nonsense off today sounded American. |

Has everything to do with Paypal's system.
Some people find that the IP address is the issue.
I myself think its a combination of factors including the history of the account as it associates with one single IP address used.
but with paypal who can really tell. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 02:28 PM. | |
