UK eBay & PaypalGeneral discussions about eBay.co.uk Suspensions and Paypal.co.uk limited accounts. This forum is geared towards UK eBay & Paypal sellers.
I like to use ebay live chat on the rare occasions i need to contact them. I like to work so that my contacts with eBay and paypal are kept to the absolute minimum.
I recently was helping a pal to get negative feedback removed.
So with me looking over their shoulder we tried ebay chat.
We pointed out that the foreign buyer in the order details had requested a $5 shipping cost reduction. No reduction was made and the item was sent with tracking. The negative feedback came with an accusation of faulty goods that had not been put to my friend and there had been no request for a refund or return.
When the chat started i told my friend to be as polite as absolutely possible greeting and welcoming the eBay op.
We pointed out that reducing the shipping cost by $5 would have meant no tracking, against eBay principles, and the customers request was after the purchase.
The Ebay op asked us to wait (wait time 1 min 35 secs).
He said good news we will remove the negative feedback for you.
My friend who is a very religious person typed i pray that your god will bless you and your family. The ebay op replied with thank you that means a lot to me.
This is something i have never done but made me realise this is a good thing to do.
Of course i told my friend that probably within 48 hours he will get a feedback request from ebay about the ebay op and i said always give them 5 stars etc.
I hope this helps

Always a good idea to be nice when speaking to them (as naive as some may be). But getting negative feedback removed is fairly easy, so long as you have sufficient grounds for doing so.
Also, I wouldn't get into the habit of getting negative ratings in the first place, thinking you can get it removed later, because they aren't actually erased. They are simply set to invisible, so reps can actually see all your previous negs, and even set them to visible again.
