Default Ip address & virgin media super hub

I've been using my old Virgin modem connected to a Netgear router happily for a few years & have been careful to reset the mac address to get the correct IP address for each of my stealth accounts.
Virgin have just delivered a new modem, a Virgin Super Hub which is being supplied free to many of their users.
Can anybody tell me how & if it's possible to change the IP address on one of these things. I don't want to set it up & screw up my stealth accounts by getting them linked through the IP address.
Any help appreciated

I would imagine that changing the MAC address on this 'superhub' is probably similar to changing the MAC on the old netgear one. Dont take my word for it though as I dont use Virgin any longer

Update for mac.fee & other intetrested members.
Have connected 3 PCs to this Superhub. Each seems to have it's own MAC adress. Changing the MAC address leaves the IP address at the default setting, so it seems to be static.
Have switched the hub off for 2 minutes, 30 minutes & 3 hours, and each time the IP address stays at default. Haven't tried overnight yet, but asking around other users it seems to make no difference.
I have purchased a Vodaphone dongle & am using that on one of the stealth accounts I have operational at the moment, with another using the superhub.
WARNING FOR VODAPHONE MOBILE DONGE USERS - I have noticed that whilst you do get a different IP address each time you connect, they are NOT unique. About 1 out of 10-15connections gets an IP address that has been previously used (only the last 2 digits of the IP address change), so you could get a problem if using the dongle over more than one stealth account.
Don't know what I am going to do yet when I need to use other stealth accounts. Any gne got any ideas?

Hi GTB
Yes IP address changes with each connection, but the number can be repeated ie. on 18.1.2012 connected with IP xxx.xxx.12.12, over the next few days connected another 15 times with different IPs, then on the 16th connection IP address xxx.xxx.12.12 was repeated. This is no problem if use don the same account, but if used on seperate accounts they would get linked. Monitoring this is seems to happen quite frequently.
It's just a bit of a warning for anyone expecting a different & unique IP each time.

Hi

if it changes,even slightly....its a different IP

if it stays exactly the same,it has not changed or you got the same ip

just keep an eye

dongles change IP....you might get the same one now and then but the one you have now will of been used by someone else before it came to you

as long as it changes you are good to go

BTW,they will not ban you just because you used one ip on one acct, and then a month later on another

there has to be more similar info

using one ip,for two accounts, over a prolonged period of time is going to be obvious its the same person

one offs mean nothing

I get a similar IP problem with GiffGaff as the IP range seems to be quite limited and while the IP addresses change each time you login you can get the same IP as what you had 5 days or so ago, but I've compared the IP's with other GiffGaff users and they get the same IP addresses over a period of time, so thousands of people are sharing the same IP addresses, this must really confuse Ebay's IP tracking doo-dah!

right bro,it would be near impossible for a dynamic ip address to be used once only by one person

the ip numbers would be like 50 numbers strong and growing

all you need to be is on the ball and change ip address when switching account

that is the main issue

if you get an ip from last month its not a big problem

still no need to use the ip if your using a dongle,it takes about 5 seconds to turn it off and back on again
