Default eBay Postage

I always use Royal Mail First Class Recorded service to dispatch my items on eBay to buyers.

I've few items which are worth more than £60+, which Royal Mail service should I use to dispatch these items?

PP doesn't appear to allow you to get insurance above £46. In this case, as the cost will be above a fiver, I'd use the Royal Mail site where they allow you to select how much your item is worth. Or just take it to the post office and pay there (they'll ask you if it's worth more than 50 quid and charge you appropriately).

you only need to use special delivery to guarantee it'll get their at or before a certain time. unless the buyer requests it, carry on using recorded

I used the Royal Mail website and checked with Price Finder, compensation is £500 if I send it using Royal Mail Special Delivery

The items aren't big, just average size also I tend to use Royal Mail as I've a Post Office nearby and I think Parcel Force charge to collect the item from you

i've sent stuff that was worth more than £46 normal recorded before. maybe they don't do that any more and make you use special delivery. never had a recorded item disappear, though i've had normal first class vanish, which is strange

If your selling these items in high volume id forget about higher insurance...

If you lost 1 out of 90 but paid an extra 15 quid that's a lot of money wasted...... Just put the value as the limit.. 50quid

Narrowing your margins!

Parcleforce is only 12.60 for up to 4kg and 100 quid compensation....

A lot better than 8.80 with no tracking and Lower insurance!! I retract my reply

You can keep shipping via Royal Mail First Class recorded regardless of how much the item costs, however they will only cover up to the value that the service provides. If it covers up to £50, and the lost item is £80, you'll be the £30 difference down.

It is worth noting that Royal Mail only compensate the cost that it'll cost YOU to replace the item. So for example if you sell the item at £60, but it only costs you £30 to buy from your supplier, they will only compensate you the £30.

They do ask for copies of invoices also or receipts.

Special delivery all the way for items over 35 quid or items that are over 1.5-2kg

For the few extra pence i get peace of mind, Special deliver has never lost a package in 15years ish for me, However i would say 40-50% of my stuff gets there a day later than it should which is a massive bonus.

Nothing btter than FREE special delivery.
