Default Have Paypal changed verification process again??

Greetings

A couple of months ago I created an eBay Stealth account like I have done many times before and I was able to do it without first registering a VCC.
I've just tried to create another account and now Paypal are saying I must add a credit card / debit card before I can use the Paypal account...?

Previously I'd just had to link a bank account and Paypal would make 2 small deposits that would then be input as a code as part of their verification process, does that no longer work?

ta!

Johnny

Actually I've just completed the 'add bank account' process and its saying the deposits are pending.

how long does that take cos its saying 3 days! I'm sure I've done this before and it was quite quick.

Also its till asking me to add a credit / cebit card linked to my bank account, surely I cant do that cos its not 'stealth'.

I know I can set up a VCC but I was hoping I wouldnt have to do that yet cos I'm skint and I dont have £12 or whatever to create a new VCC,

Bank deposits can take anywhere from 3-5 days. If it doesnt go through, pp will e-mail you stating that the bank account is invalid or having problems. Do you have a screenshot of that CC request? That's a normal request IF you are trying to buy stuff...i mean, you have no other source of funding right now.

If you are just setting up the account - it works fine without anything...for now.

Luck of the draw with paypal uk as to how they work. Differs daily.

Depends on your bank as well.

Early days to worry about this not working though.

Regarding the set up of the account, there are about three different sign up screens / processes that UK paypal use. There is one (which you are referring to) that you are asked to add card details before the account is even created (enter card details on the sign up page).

If you don't wish to add a card, then the best option would be to start again on a fresh windows user account.

On about half the accounts I create, I add the card details before the account is actually "created".

Bloody hell, I didnt know that! They have a different sign up screen with different requirements and the one you get offered is given out randomly? So the account I've just tried to set up will be useless now because I dont have a credit card linked to the bank account that I've used to set this account up.

What do you mean start again on a fresh windows user account? Do you mean start with a whole new set of details on a new windows account or just switch to a new windows account with the same details?

Same details (as you won't have created the account yet) but created a fresh windows user account so that there are no previous cookies that take you back the sign screen you don't want. Hope that makes sense.

ah right I see, wont using CCleaner do the trick? I've always had a problem with using seperate Windows user accounts in that every account needs to have programs reinstalled on each account. Am I doing something wrong ?

Should be. If you don't remove the cookies from the initial sign up attempt then it will keep going back to the same sign up screen that you don't want.

Tsk! Now when I try and list my first auction the bit where ebay asks me to choose a method to pay my fees I have chosen to pay via Paypal, but when it directs me to Paypal it is then asking me to register a debit / credit card...? How is that me paying my ebay fees via Paypal if its then asking me to add a debit card?

In the past I've been able to pay fees via my Paypal balance, I certainly dont want Ebay randomly debiting fees direct from any debit card / credit card or VCC. How do I get around this? Everytime I do this something new comes up, its a right fiasco...!

I started setting up a UK business account today. They only did one deposit of 0.1p and it cleared instantly.

They defo throw random sign up screens at you. I put this to the test earlier.

For instance if you select business and sign up you get a different sign up process to selecting personal but then choosing business from the personal page.

Differs every time.

Sometimes I even double check to make sure it's ebay co uk

For most of 2008, it was possible to make a new account in under 10 minutes. No longer.
