Default What's the best way of releasing the PayPal 21 day hold on funds ?

Are there any other ways besides the ones below ?

1.We can confirm that the item was delivered.
2.The buyer leaves positive Feedback. (This applies only to eBay items.)

Also do I have to do both ? or can I just do either one or the other ?

Tricky this.

Sometimes you have to call to get the funds released.

Depends on the age of the account & value of item(s) sold.

Well it's only like 3 - 4 months old.

What would I say to Paypal to get the funds released ?

So can I ring or not ?

Also can't I just get the buyer to leave positive feedback ?

Thing is that even with feedback being left, it does not always OR automatically get the 21 day holds released.

Yes, it can help. But it is not always automatic for some accounts.

I think the best way is to let the holds release automatically, mine never were released with positive feedback automatically I usually neede to wait about 3 days after delivered and on newer accounts up to 7 days after delivery, but my accounts that are over 3 months old the holds are all gone

I have been tempted to call or email them after a positive but just figured it may draw attention to the account, so there is no problem with letting them know positive feedback was received and release the funds?????

why not leave a note with the item asking the buyer (if they're happy with the it) to log into PP and click the "item received" button (it's something like that)? leaving feedback doesn't seem to work anymore, but clicking the button in PP definitely does.

if you've sent it tracked and it's been delivered, just email or phone PP 3 days after it was delivered (make sure you hide your phone number if it's not related to your PP account by putting 141 before the PP number). you could do this if you've also received feedback, but they tend to (in my experience) fob you off by telling you they'll check it after they've finished the call.

Yes thats why I just let it release on its own , it usually does 3 days after delivered but on new accounts I find it sometimes takes a week after delivered and positive feedback never released automatically for me. I recently had 3 accounts age to where the holds are gone its so nice just to have that cash flow for shipping costs instead of needing to leave $60 every month for shipping

they don't automatically release funds after 3 days in the UK if it has tracking, you have to contact them.

Similar combo with the UK.

Sometimes the feedback is left.

No funds get released and you chase your own money.

Other things can be done to bypass this,

Yes, it can help. But it is not always automatic for some accounts.

How about if feedback is left and I get in contact with eBay.

Will they take the hold away?

As this is what they quoted in their help customer service:

When will PayPal release the payment hold?

The amount of time PayPal holds payments varies, but the hold may be released sooner if:

We can confirm that the item was delivered.

1.The buyer leaves positive Feedback. (This applies only to eBay items.)

2.When PayPal holds a payment it will be kept in your account as a pending balance. After the hold is released, the money will be available for withdrawal.

To get access to this money more quickly, process your order right away and communicate with your customers early and often.

yes, they should. if you email them, note the username and item number on ebay and match it to the corresponding paypal transaction (with email address). you can also write/print this information if you phone them. they'll usually release the funds whilst you're on the phone, or take a couple of days if you email them.

I emailed them today for one transaction that was just delivered today and just got this nice response a few hours after :

I checked Parcel Force website and I can confirm that the item was delivered today 5 June 2013. Let me share with you that we can only remove the hold on your payment if the item has been delivered for 3 days. As a courtesy, I have removed the funds from hold. You may now transfer the funds to your bank account or use it for your purchases.

I am glad I was able to help you get this resolved.

It is my pleasure to assist you. Thank you for choosing PayPal.

I wouldnt call unless absolutely necessary and life depends on the funds...just put the number in and get the feedback - keep the operation simple and efficient.

One call with an agent having a bad day or being in crazy mood can cause you issues

I agree with that rsot, I don't mind at all the wait in fact the accounts that I have where the holds are gone I still wait 3-4 days after the item was delivered to withdrawl the funds just in case there is any returns.

The only thing I wish that was different Is that Paypal release the funds for shipping. It makes no sense that they hold those funds also , especially with running a lot of listings over accounts between putting up the money for the product, shipping supplies, computer/printer expenses and than shipping can get a little tight some weeks, Paypal should treat shipping as funds soley for postage and not be allowed to hold or tax these funds . This is the only problem I have with the holds, other than that I think that it is necessary to keep scammers from taking the money and running

I hear that - and that's why you should always have some free "petty cash" in your pp account - annoying but it's a good move.
