INAD Cases - can't refund

So I have a couple of cases in the past couple of weeks which were resolved amicably however, when a customer opens an ITEM NOT AS DESCRIBED case, it doesn't give you the option to refund, it just says ask the buyer to return for a refund which has to be done through PP?

However, you can't refund a buyer through PayPal if a case is open because the money is held in a pending fund.

Any ideas how you refund?

do you not wish to get the item back? is it due to address? hmm I can see that being an issue, if so, you need to message ebay and ask them to issue refund as you cannot do so.

Refund on paypal then ask the buyer to close the case.

I faced the same situation in the past several times where the payment / amount was put on hold by PayPal because of the opened case by the buyers/s and II had to request the buyers to close the case so I could go ahead and issue a refund. Only a few took the risk but for the rest of them who refused to close cases and also were getting real impatient ... I did nothing but to manually transfer the amount to the buyers' PayPal account to save me negatives on my account at least. The buyers closed the case once they got money in their PayPal. You do lose your PayPal and eBay fee as you can't send them 'cancelling the transaction' request to get the fee charged by eBay and PayPal, as far as I could remember. I am really not suggesting this method though. Plz wait for someone with more experience to suggest you something better.

I had to get them to close the case at their end, then funds were released.

or pay them by transferring money via PayPal to them, then they close case, then the held money gets released.

Real pain in the neck.

Ah....

Accept the "return" and then immediately confirm you have the item back and finalise the refund. Email the buyer and tell them the item does not need to be returned.
