I know there are others who use mobile broadband in dongles etc which is exactly the same so surely they would be all getting linked too? |
bang on Johnny, stop stressing mate. |
@jonny
i am not referring to mobile broadband
i am talking about using ebay on a phone
not using a pc at all, just the phone and logging into multiple accounts
tiz said he has a windows phone so he probably has diff user accounts and gets diff ip
but if you use a non windows smart phone and cannot change user accounts then i think you will get linked
how...i dont know, maybe cookies or maybe they can trace the phone used:noidea:
just something to think about |
| Squib03 | 01-18-2012 04:56 PM | Ive been logged into my main account on my iphone and chucked my phone on aeroplane mode and back on again thus givin me a new ip and used it with my stealth account many a time.
Account is now around 4 months old and i havent had any problems. |
| Squib03 | 01-18-2012 04:57 PM | Btw by this i mean teathering |
that is different
the debate is about actually using your phone, not tethering just for ip |
| johnnyleeds | 01-18-2012 05:05 PM | Oh, well I'm only using my mobile phone's built in HSDPA modem to access mobile broadband via my laptop which is tethered to the phone. Its not great broadband speed - usually about 1-2 meg download, a bit slower for uploads.
But for £10 per month and I get 250 minutes credit / unlimited texts and unlimited internet its not bad. I just assumed that cos I'm using a laptop running windows xp with multiple user accounts / firefox / ccleaner etc that i'd be ok...?
I wouldnt use my phones browser to be logging into multiple stealth accounts as I dont know how the phones browser handles cookies etc. My phone is a vintage HTC smartphone that runs windows mobile 6.5, compared to all these phones running android / windows 7 etc its an antique. But it works for me and it only cost £25 from... cashconverters! ha ha ha!
One odd thing I notice is that even without logging off or switching my phone off / on again etc I get an IP address that is constantly changing. For example if I go to IP Burger to get my IP address I will get one IP address, then a few minutes later if I go back to IP Burger it will show a new IP address... Whats that all about? Is this something that is peculiar to mobile broadband? |
| aleen | 01-18-2012 09:28 PM | im using ebay apps as well for multiple ebay accounts. actually iphone clear cookies by itself. i know many people who are using iphone 4 especially for mulitiple ebay accounts. |
| johnnyleeds | 01-18-2012 09:43 PM | Multiple ebay accounts on one iphone ebay app sounds a bit risky, personally I wouldnt do that even if it does clear cookies, it might not be the cookies that would cause the linking there. Any Ebay apps are usually developed by Ebay - like Turbolister for example, and you wouldnt have multiple stealth accounts all using Turbolister on the same computer, you might as well just write a signed confession and send it to Ebay. |

I don't touch any of their apps.
Been going strong on 4 stealths for 2 months on iPhone now... |

No one did, some people said they wouldn't trust it and others posted that they actually use it. |
Hmmmm
looks like this thread will continue on into the night
does anyone know of a way that ebay can link you if you use your phone ONLY to run multiple stealth accounts
ip address is not the issue here,it is things like cookies or something that could show ebay that you are the same person/same phone, some unique info that only your phone will have |
| aleen | 01-19-2012 07:24 AM | it aint risky though. if you have jail broken iphone and unlimited 3g data then you are fine as i know. |
so your saying ebay cannot collect any unique data from you
your phone does not give away any unique info that ebay could use against you in the court of ebay law
what about uploading pics,do you clean the exif data?
theres a few things to think about
ip address is not a problem! |
also just because a few do this on the regular
dont mean they dont know
mebe you just aint been caught yet:bat:
JB have you ever had a ebay account limited from using your phone
i dont mean because of using your phone, just had one banned?
coz if you have...and you are still running the tuva ones fine then that could be some proof that the iphone is fine for what we are talkin about
anyone else who dont use a windows or a iphone smart phone to run multiple accounts on ebay & paypal please stand up
better question.....what info can be collected by website owners when someone logs on with a smart phone? |
Hmm yeah......i do tend to talk sh*t lol:typing: |
| johnnyleeds | 01-19-2012 11:10 AM | Well I suppose only time will tell if using either mobile broadband or ebay apps on the same mobile phone can cause linking problems. However I'm going to give ebay as little chance as possible to link me so I only use my mobile phone to connect to the internet via its built in modem.
Then I'm following all the usual Ebay Stealth procedures on my laptop - Firefox / CCleaner etc etc. Running an Ebay App designed by Ebay for a mobile phone probably contains extra codes designed to record information about you, your habits, your usernames, phone model, network used, location etc etc.
Anyway if its working fine for people that use it at the moment then good luck to you. Personally I wouldnt use it unless it was just for one account maybe. |
| Pringles | 01-19-2012 11:58 PM | I've signed into several banned accounts on my iPhone and my other ones are still up |
iphone sounds like its fine to be using with multiple accounts
did you use the ebay app for iphone or just web browser?
suppose only time will tell unless someone with a definitive answer comes along:noidea:
may god bless you all:amen: |
| Pringles | 01-20-2012 11:47 AM | If that question was directed at me...
I just used browsers on iPhone. I know I should be saving my cookies but instead I've just set my browser app to Private Mode so it always clears my browsing data upon exiting the browser app
I stay away from the eB*y app |
| johnnyleeds | 01-20-2012 04:25 PM | Well there seems to be a few people who are happy to use the Ebay App with multiple stealth accounts, good luck that it works for you, but I'd rather not risk it. Surely that would be like using Turbolister with multiple stealth account wouldnt it? | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 05:11 PM. | |
