Default Direct Debit - am I screwed?

I have one old eBay&Paypal account bought from Just_Smile guy here on forum. I highly recommend him.

I didn't use it for a while because it had some problems, now it looks more solid and I was ready to go.

The paypal account has been verified, but unfortunately I had to add another bank account (because Mon ese has changed their bank, before it was Nat West, now it is Pre pay Technologies)

I rang paypal and added it by assistance of robot, all good till now.

Then they have asked to set up direct debit which I have agreed and they said they will send instructions to my bank. My paypal name and bank name are different.

Am I screwed here, did I had to do it or not?

I am aware paypal should not take any payment from my bank account if I have enough funds to cover any fees/refunds, etc, BUT I have read on forum here that they sometimes take out some random funds from your bank account, is that true?

Status of the bank account is unconfirmed, should I confirm it?

Primary bank account is still on file, should I leave it there or remove it as I am not going to use it anymore because it is not active.

What are you thought and recommendations?

Am I stupid or stupid&lucky and nothing bad wont happen?

Thanks

It will just get cancelled and then you can use the bank account

Nothing to worry about just dont let them try to take funds from the bank account

Thanks James, you are true gem for this forum.
Is there any benefits of setting it up (direct debit)?
And is it necessery to confirm bank account, does it makes any difference if you confirm/dont confirm it?
Thanks

You want to confirm the bank account, but the DD doesn't matter

Always good to have both active on the account for security flag-passing purposes
