Default Anyone else get a letter from Paypal saying they will charge £9 for inactive account

So just today I got a letter stateing that paypal will charge £9.00 for inactive account. There is an email attached in the letter that is correct, but its years old, and so is the PP account in question. As far as I know there are no funds in the old PP account. And there is no way for me to login, as the email address attached to the PP account has been closed and I forget the password. This PP account is maybe 8-10 years old.

Also, did paypal send these letters out to every Paypal account holder? or just to paypal accounts that have been inactive over a certain amount of time?

From 16 December 2020, if your account has been inactive for over 12 months, you'll be charged a fee which is the lesser of £12, or your entire PayPal balance. If you don't have any money in your PayPal account, or your balance is negative, you won't be charged (even if you have a credit or debit card linked to the account) you can avoid the fee by simply logging into your account (or making a transaction) on or before 15 December 2020.

An account where the user hasn't sent, received or withdrawn money, or logged into their account. may be affected, if funds are present in Paypal.

PayPal has been making it's own path with technology firms and card schemes to reduce its reliance with ebay. Either way, a big loss will be incurred by Paypal leaving ebay, which i don't think they will.

Thats what im getting at, could expose many stealth accounts, the person would contact PP and dispute that they are not the person on the letter, PP could then could look into those accounts abit more and freeze them. Maybe a long shot as what I have read PP are very difficult to even get in touch with. Maybe good idea for people with stealth PP accounts to log in once and awhile to prevent anyone getting a letter

Yes, I got a letter yesterday, from a very old PP account in my real details from years ago. Not sure if PP sent letters to ALL account holders, or just PP account holders that have not logged in over 12 months
