Default Paypal Refund?

I received a refund by echeque from a seller a few days ago, and in my paypal account account it says it should clear on the 2 Feb.

Well as you know its now the 5th of Feb and the funds are still pending ?

Is there something wrong with the sellers account or what?!

Depends on the sellers bank and when they actually initiated the payment as I assume this was made as an echeque from the sellers bank account, hence the delayed clearance which would not happen with cleared funds from a p/p account.

p/p's date is only an estimate of when they expect it to clear.

Depends on the time of day....

If it got started at 5:00pm 5 days back, then the actual transfer does not start until start of business the next day.

It's tricky to know the timing of the banks when they 'do' transfers.

Although it doesn't surprise me, he did get roughly 8 negatives this month and is absolutely impossible to talk to / get a response from.

Sounds like a scammer that did not have the funds in the bnk account, hoping you actually sent the item before funds cleared (Not noticed).

^ ^ ^ Likley if you account is newish ? ^ ^ ^

Maybe genuine (It happens) and still not have funds in account to cover transaction.

Not sure how much you value your PP/EBY accounts but i would never sell to anyone that recieved 8 neg in 6 months let alone one, Really risking limitation doing that.

My account is almost 2 years old, as this is my buying account .
He had only started to receive the negatives after i paid him, before that he was 100% positive.
