Bit like Amazon? I had 100% ratings on Amazon and I used to sell high value items. One customer didn't read the description properly and wanted to return the item. My amazon account was closed because of "too many defects". Wow.

yeah the new update may seem nice but it also says maximum seller rating is 2% ebays system is very similar to amazons system but a lot more lenient.

i also noticed just now that you can buy items over and over from the same seller and the feedback get counted again and again towards your account.

before 1 feedback can only count from 1 seller no matter how many times you buy items from them.

apparently ebay is starting to relax on a lot of rules....

One feedback count per seven days. Always been this way.

This will certainly benefit us, sellers, big time. And be ready for the high competition especially in the high risk categories as more foofoos will be sold.

So all the banned accounts will be resurfaced? no more stealth? Whats this mean more freedom for sellers?

Interesting. I'm not counting my chickens though. I'll just operate as if I'm planning on getting screwed by eBay, and if they decide to not screw me, I'll consider it a pleasant surprise :D

Does anyone know if the defects will affect Canadians? I do send with tracking normally unless the value is under $50.00. So if I don't send with tracking will my account be below standard and suspended? I am very confused, thanks for any help.

No, for Canadian accounts to score top rated either on .ca or .com site you dont need to have a tracking at all hence it is benefitial for Canadian accounts to sell on .com site especially in the small priced market.

Late shipment rate is the time it takes for you to send the package, so if you either dont provide tracking or mark as shipped within your handling period (there is even an example on ebay how they count that handling) it will be counted as late.

And I am not sure if your tracking has to show delivery date within the promised date on ebay.

I did. It's been really difficult trying to keep my account floating until the
new seller standards take effect.

Literally all my accounts turned to Top Rated... Because even though often it didnt help my defect rate, I still resolved all issues. Now it seems to have paid off as those no longer count against me.... And believe me some are very petty cases....

Although I have noticed an uptick in people now resorting to PayPal for the scam.... Which is bad news, cause they are much more strict then ebay has ever been.

One of my accounts was on the brink last week because my "late delivery" rate was sitting right on 3%. Total BS in my opinion because all of my orders are posted within 24 hours. The late deliveries were totally USPS's fault. I was able to boost sales by adding a product line and brought it up to 2.84% as of this week.

I love and hate the new standards. With the old standards I was able to prevent or remedy most defects and maintain TRP fairly easily. But this "late delivery" thing is killing me and I have absolutely no control over it. It's going to suck if I lose my discount for the postal service's crappy service.

With USA accounts if you ship with tracking, the tracking number has to show delivery before or on eBay's promised date or else it counts as a "late shipment." If you ship without tracking buyer's are now asked when they leave feedback if the shipment arrived on time, and if they say "no" it counts as a "late shipment". This means that (at least in USA, but I would imagine Canada is very similar) sellers shipping without tracking can now technically become Top Rated. But it would be very easy for them to be targeted by scammers/competitors who tell eBay the shipment arrived late.
