Am i screwed? Buyer claims wrong item

New buyer claim wrong item on a $450 item the moment he got it. Am i screwed?

Said it is the wrong item but it was not. Its a scammer on a brand new ebay account

You can politely ask, if he is not happy with the item he got, to return it and you will refund... what's the problem?

If he doesn't return the case will close in couple of months. Unfortunately, there is no good option if they open a return case and simply don't return, no seller escalation and the buyer "ship by" date means nothing. Eventually it just times out. I've had some do it within few weeks and others still showing waiting on return from September 2015

Ask the buyer to show you clear photos of the item he received and the original box it was shipped in.

Not as described will obviously mean you get him to return it.

If you do not explain your whole story from the start and not in bits and pieces , how do you expect people like ilcarletto to give full info.

The only thing you can do is accept a return or offer a partial refund?

there is nothing else that can be done to avoid this.

I did ask. No response yet it has been 3 days with no response

The person is scamming , obviously they are going to ship something back but not the $$$$ big ticket item to get a refund.

Just spitballing here, what would happen if you just happen to reject the package and do a "send back to sender"? I wonder what would happen in that situation.

I don't think it would work out good because the seller is responsible for the return shipping and usps writes on their website stuff like 'refused' or 'undeliverable as addressed'. the blame for a non-delivery on a return will fall on the seller.

Already tried that, ebay still refunds the buyer whether or not you refuse package!
