Entropay have promised to refund me, so that option is closed. I'm not holding my breath for the refund though.

I'll try to get a voucher to top-up a 3V card from the corner shop....

If I pay cash for the voucher, does that mean there's no connection with my name and address and the 3V card?
If you pay cash for it then can't see anyway there could be a link back to you in any way

had a few problems with entro pay myself, but they seem quite helpfui, had a card which for some reason got limited after i had already verified it, and sent them images of the card, they put a £100 limit on the card and asked me to confirm the dates when i had spent to verify it

Be really careful, larger top up transactions are causing the shops machines to be vblocked on 3V. Ive blocked three shops now asking for £100 vouchers, and be told on the phone by 3V that I am a fraud risk low

Just went to Morrison's....they had a generic Visa prepay card in £25 and £50 sizes.

Any reason I can't use this linked to PayPal to start selling?

Could I get away without attaching my bank account?

One year, but that would be enough to get me started.

I'm assuming I could link another prepaid card just before it runs out.....?

NO GIBBO, you have to verify your UK paypal by adding a real bank account, there is 100% no way around this, nothing else is acceptable in this country to verify paypal

PP will be aware when your expiry is up on your VCC, so adding another at that time should not raise concerns at all.
Thats what i think anyway:-)

Why do you not want to attach a bank account?

The 3V printout voucher from the machine has a 3 month expiry date.
The physical plastic card has a 12 month expiry date.

You also get charged £2 a month for using gift cards.

Talk about head aches

I bought one off here last week for £9.00 as my old one was due to expire

whole transaction was done in no time

head ache free and good to go for another 12month

Thanks

Thanks for your ongoing help.

In trying to get my first voucher to activate a 3V VCC, I discovered the hard way that it's not as simple as walking into a corner shop displaying the "PayPoint" sign, you also need someone with an IQ in double digits to be working there…

I trudged around SIX shops in Crawley with a PayPoint sign and only met with blank looks…they seem surprised when I pointed to the sign was on the door and didn't know what it was for!

The local Co-Op eventually sold me a voucher, but only after spending 15 minutes denying they existed.

The actual verifying of the Voucher then adding it to Paypal was the easy bit, so be prepared for a lot of legwork if you choose to use this method.

I now have to resurrect an old Halifax Bank account by showing them photo ID and a recent utility bill. This is not as easy as it sounds because very few utilities send paper bills anymore..

If all this ever succeeds in allowing me to start selling on eBay again, it will be worth it, but it's been hard work…

Your post made me giggle. I think someone else recently said that they went into these shops and was met with a blank expression.
The mind boggles that these shops dont know what they are selling lol
Pretty sure the person who brought it up said that they had to show the cashier on the coop screen where it was

LOL ive had issues with paypoint vouchers where ASDA Staff said they dont existed, went home and searched and found this :

the store associate will find the voucher under 'Cash Vouchers & e-Money' on the terminal.

Went back to the store, and felt good to prove them wrong haha..

My story.
I used to go to same post office to make W/U to China.
for 5 years.
everytime i go same post staff members act like they are doing it first time.
After few attemps i just leave the money in the morning and collect the number on my way back in the evening off transfer as it might take them up to 2 hours to realise how to do it.Even they do it everyday for God know how many years. 5+ for sure.Looking at their age i would bet 30+
Done it at least 100 times myseldf with same staff!
Jesus!!! Are the dumb as coocumbers or what?! Dont want to insult BUT...

Hehehe nice one tannedweekend, seriously how many of go into shops these days to find shop assistants who haven't a clue! And worse than that, you often get 'attitude ' as well! Like no one has any right to have any questions about whatever they are buying or God forbid, horror of horrors, how it works!!!!!

Tried again with Entropay same outcome I'm afraid Barclays won't give me the code as it creates a security issue I spoke with them last night and again this morning. At least I got this in writing forwarded it to Entropay who can't take any further action. They've asked me do I want to try and verify again. I think after 5 times I'll give this one up and go down a different path. Thanks to all for your help it is appreciated.

If the issue seems to be with barclays...can you not try with another bank if you have another one.
Could be any visa i guess coz they dont share info.
Perhaps ask entropay to remove the.barclays.completely and start again with another bank group.
I might be wrong, but its just a thought.
At the beginning of joining entropay, they just need to verify you by your card which you will use to fund the cards. So another card might work.
See what others think or if you are fed up, go another route :-)

Could be a waste of a bank account if he has one already added.

Much better to just buy a one off vcc.

Except for ONE major point.

The majority of posters with issues are ALL from the UK. There is no Vanilla Visa in the UK.
