Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification Checked off the checkbox under the input code on our 1 computer so we don't need to do the 2 step on this computer.
Went to sign in on another computer and only needed the sms code, NOT the QR scan.
Will see how it works over the next couple of days. (This is a Canadian Account). |
Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification I keep checking off the "don't ask for codes on this device" checkbox under the SMS code input. It bypasses the QR codes but keeps sending an SMS on each signin.
Did I miss another spot to shut the 2 step off, or our we looking at receiving an SMS every time (Canada acct)?
Thanks |
Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification You can disable two step once you set it up in the advanced settings / login settings |

Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification Happy to help :)
It seems as of today, I have not seen additional requests to setup two-step after initially setting it up, and then disabling it / turning it off. |

It seems as of today, I have not seen additional requests to setup two-step after initially setting it up, and then disabling it / turning it off. | I turned it off on the main computer.
Logged in on our 2 other computers without any 2-step questions, scans, or SMS.
Just like it was before they asked for this extra steps.
Still might stagger the 2 step idea between accounts to make them look different. Some using it, and some not. |
Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification Yesterday I disabled the 2 step, then checked off the remove information checkbox.
Today it asked me to opted into 2 step again.
Set it up again, then disabled without checking the extra box off.
Will let you know if it asks again. |
Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification I think you need to set it up initially before disabling it, to completely remove it
I've done it on 5 accounts so far and have not seen it return
June 30th is coming soon so I'm curious how it will play out on newly registered accounts. |
| Superfly101 | 06-15-2017 04:05 PM | Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification Its now happening on old accounts. Our account when we went to login says we must activate 2-step or we will not have access to our account past June 30, and our account is 4 years old. |

Today it asked me to set it up again. Now I will set it up, wait 2 days then disable.
AZ forums is logging quite a few issues with this.
I like your thinking though. Thanks for the advise. |
| chris100 | 06-18-2017 04:23 PM | Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification I want to use an authenticator app but I'm not sure I fully understand the process.
I download the app on my phone and scan the amazon barcode. I can then enter any Amazon code on to the authenticator app to get a another code to log in with?
At what point is my smartphone talking to Amazon? I don't want to keep my phone offline. It hasn't been used for Amazon log in previously but I don't see how that would catch me out anyway?
I also want to use the app for multiple account log in |
Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification You scan the QR code with your app and it will give you a code (on your app). You enter that code into the amazon webpage and you're good to go.
Keep your phone at all times offline when using this authenticator.

In other news, it appears Amazon may be removing the two-step verification requirement by June 30th. its too early to tell but I'll keep the thread updated as I see more information :) |
Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification Here is what they say now that the June 30th deadline seems to have been removed:
Amazon strongly recommends that you enable Two-Step Verification to protect against unauthorised use of your account. Based on your feedback, we are developing alternative solutions to enable Two-Step Verification, and your access to Seller Central will not change until these solutions are available.
Looks like enough people complained about that silly requirement :) |
| Superfly101 | 06-19-2017 05:07 PM | Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification Thanks for the update =). I wonder if we can get around it now. Thing is a pain in the arse, lol. If they would "call us with the code" we'd be fine but the text part is a pain because our numbers are all unable to receive texts. |
| Freakzilla | 06-20-2017 06:04 AM | Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification Now wait for something worse to come into effect! |
Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification One of my accounts, up until 2 weeks ago, would email me a code on sign in. This happened for over 2 months. Then the 2 step came.
Liked the email idea better. Pretty much the same as phone or text, but easier on Stealth.
Time will tell.
Thanks for the updates. |
Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification Update on one account.
Set up 2 step with authenticator first, backup is phone #.
Signed in today and asked for code from auth app (using google).
Made sure phone was accessing only the wifi that I have for that particular account.
New code came through google app for login, no phone # needed.
Would work great for travelling. Just make sure you are on the right wifi or IP address.
Hope that gives us some more options. Have yet to try it on airplane mode but doubt that would work. |

IT WORKED!
I do not know why it worked, but it did update my 2 step code off-line. |
Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification Yup works good offline. I just have a permanent offline phone for this. |

Much easier to just have a pushed code to us.
I know it has been discussed that there is no communication between AZ and google, but how is this done, especially since the app has our user name?
