Lightbulb Business Class Internet

Not sure if this has been brought up before, I read the forums about once a month so I know I don't see everything but I thought this might be VERY helpful information for some.

I am moving into commercial space and had to sign up for business class internet, I thought this could become an issue however I have found out that (At least with ATT where I am located) for $55/month you can get 5 Static IP addresses and 1 dynamic line with the small business class package. Many of the company's I contacted here do pretty much the same deal as this.

This could be VERY VERY nice to have, the install is in two weeks so I will see exactly how it works out then but it looks promising for some things, many different ways this could be used if you have a good imagination.

Anybody have experience with this themselves?

Not certain you can get business class in a home but I would imagine you could as many people run businesses out of their homes. Wish I had discovered this sooner!

The downfall usually is that the IP numbers only differ by one digit so if the last set is 111, the rest will be 112, 113, 114, 115 and they dont let them differ that much, at least with my business service. Let me know if you get something different.

Thanks for the info.

I presume you mean that the static numbers don't differ that much but I would presume thay the dynamic numbers that you can pull still do as with residential service?

If that is the case I can still see some good uses for it but a bit more limited than I had t hought.

Unfortunately, for me, that is not cost effective.

For the that same price (actually less at $45), most residential customers can get dynamic IP from their ISP. If your ISP provides Static IP, there are also cheaper options such as USB dongles, tethering, or even dialup.

5 static IPs might be convenient, but having an ISP that offers dynamic IP, I can cycle through their pool of thousands of IPs every time I reboot my modem/router.

Just many other options available at a lower price.

Right but this is 5 statics PLUS the dynamic line on top of that for 55 and considering I pay 40 for one dynamic line at my house having 5 statics on top of that could be beneficial depending what you are tryin to do I would imagine.

Ah, missed that part of the extra dynamic line. Hmm, that is a good deal then. Good for you that you are on that plan.

But it would be difficult for most residential customers to get onto that plan. I imagine, you would need to provide tax ID and proof of business in order to get
on that plan.

Yeah that sounds right Tony. I'm sick of living in a time where ISP's are running monopolies and keeping other competing ISP's out of their "zone" ... this lack of competition means that internet prices are a lot higher than they need to be. ESPECIALLY when it comes to business class internet. Some locations you need to pay over $150 for a decent speed.

Can't wait for the day when we can all just use a single dongle hotspot that will connect to some awesome and reliable 4g (5g?) network for super cheap. We can ditch the crap we're zoned with and go with the competition instead. It's like once everyone had a cellphone the price for landline packages magically dropped.

All I needed to get the business class was a federal tax id number and business name. Both are easy and legal to get for near free without establishing an "OFFICIAL" business. I would think that if your business is established at your house they should be able to do it but I really dont know.

Ill post again when minebgets installed ro let you guys know how well it works.

Even if the statics IPs they give me are similar it may, at the very least, still make some things much more convenient which would be worth the extra $15-20.

Are you thinking of having five different amazon (stealth) accounts running with the same range of static IPs? All accounts would have the same ISP????

Appears dicey to say the least.

Try that and report back with the result. It could be work.

But there is impossible to get the residential service at a business location.

Thank you

Problem is if statics go down (i mean accounts get suspended) - you would need to re-up
