Default Has ebay changed for the better?

Hey everyone,

Haven't posted in sometime and wanted to share my most recent experience opening a business account. I haven't made a new seller account since late 2020. The account I just made was granted 1,000/$10,000 listing. This type of amount was a holy grail about 5 years ago. I suspect it's because they verify the seller from the jump?

Since having the account set up I've sold about 50-60 items relatively quickly, all shipped same day or next, no issues with customers. I sell this item in particular to boost reputation, and add good numbers to my metrics. Regardless many here would consider this a red flag and I shouldn't do it. I see no problem if you know it's quality selling at a discount to ultimately satisfy consumers. It's a win win scenario.

With that said they held my payments like I expected but they already are released. Now I get instant payments instead of waiting for delivery in just 2-3 weeks into my new account. This again seemed like a fantasy just a few years ago. You needed 90 days of activity at bare minimum, not factoring in PayPal.

Does this sound normal or is my account just a fluke? I don't sell things I know are high risk and I am very familiar with ebay, been doing this since 2013. Just curious some of your thoughts.

I've seen people getting 10/1000 still even now.

your 1000/10k Is definitely awesome.

IMHO you happen to have a behaviour that works well in your favor right now.
So stick with it.

Those limits are pretty low for a business account. But if it’s working congrats.

For a new LLC account I get 50000/$500k from creating

Interesting, yeah I have already gotten two limit increases within 3 weeks of the new account. I'm at over $50,000+ now for limits. I suspect I can get it higher but I don't want to produce that many sales so early into the account. $500,000 is good to have, but somewhat meaningless on a new account if you want to still exercise proper risk management. Each time I ask in chat they give the generic "no wait 30 days", I get transferred to a higher department (not sure who this is), and they granted each increase.

There seems to be much more leeway for having business accounts, and it makes sense. Most won't go threw the trouble to create new LLC, and if you did it takes time.

I've said it a few times on here, if I was writing the risk algorithm for ebay, and I'm sure they do anyway, I would red flag any new private seller who asks for a limit increase to sell their high stock levels of new wares.

Yet that's what nearly all account sellers here offer and how most stealthers therefore proceed. Indeed some on here even suggests its the best way to slide under the radar implying that business accounts attract more scrutiny and even more chance or restrictions! I'm guessing the only people who think that are the account sellers themselves on their posting accounts

Okay, it's an easy solution, but you have to be very patience indeed to mature it into something remotely business-like. Patience many stealthers seem to lack.
