Question ebay asking for CC verification??

Today i got this message on my 40 day old account that is a buyer account, i placed a bid on a item valued at 400$ too show ebay that i am using the account, i thought for sure that i was going to loose but somehow i won? the item was valued at over $500!?, this message popped up.
Attention!

In order to maintain a safe trading environment, eBay may limit activity and request additional verification.

At this time we ask that you verify your account with a Credit Card.

The process is immediate and your card will not be charged.
i think every one should have a cc or Vcc ready...(:

Why are you bidding on something you don't expect to win? I am missing something here.

I got this message from ebay recently when placing a bid. Unfortunately, I got it while doing a snipe and lost out on over $1000 of profit.. F Ebay. They could have at least given me a warning that there was an account restriction so I could fix it ahead of time.

First thing I did was bid on an item I knew I didn't want and wouldn't win just to do the VCC thing. (There is no account area option to do this, but it must be done when placing a bid). After doing this I was free to bid on any items with no issues.

i think its best to ditch it,i still haven't put any $ into it so its best to ditch it because it has been inactive for a about 20 days, i think ebay is suspicious of the account? and will probably even ask for docs by the time i start selling...
