Did you have quantity of more than 1?

Was it a UK buyer?

Often buyers try to by 4 or 5 items and enter the total price they want to pay not realising the price is per item.

Another common issue I have is EU buyers entering their offer on .co.uk thinking its in EUROs not realising they are actually making an offer in £

James,

Yes about 35 of the same item listed. Customer has bought 1 item and offered £1.50 more than BIN lol.

Amazing!

I remember years ago I had an item at auction. I started at like $29.99 they usually sold for $50-60 when auctions were more popular. I guess a buyer put in a wrong bid and somebody decided to keep bidding it up. Sold for $1200. Obviously the buyer never paid and I had to cancel the transaction. But there are definitely screw ups on buyers.

For the most part I knew the buyer wasn't going to pay. I was just worried it was a competitor and if I sent a cancel transaction they would deny it and I would be on the hook for the FVF and have to go through the hassle of calling up eBay.

Hahaha that happened to me once before. Also sometimes I like to make people smile by responding to their offer with an even lower counteroffer...: )

When I get these I tend to go slow with them because they seem to always come back with the item not as described.

Take tons of pictures for reference if needed.

Mistake #1 my good long friend. Don't send cancel of transactions even if you think they buyer is a competitor and/or wont pay (Im sure you already know that though, just making sure). ALWAYS file NPB disputes, those the buyer CANNOT get out of unless the buyer actually pays.

But yes, you are correct. If you file a cancel of transaction and the buyer declines, you are on the hook for $1200 worth of FVF, hefty charge.

---------

Back on topic here. And yea, its weird. Sometimes I will do auctions for my items, and the auction price will surpass the amount that I have the SAME EXACT items listed for at BIN. Weird when that happens, but whatever. I ain't complaining, just funny at times

I find the same thing happens all the time. I list something with BIN and it doesn't sell. When I list the item for 0.01 start bids with no BIN the price always goes past my original BIN price. I think most people are hoping to get a bargain and gets carried away with bidding.
