15 Year Old Ebay Account gone. Customer Support say its because of the way I handled

My 15-year-old Account today has been Suspended. My feedback both seller and buyer was 100%
I purchased a IPhone 12 from a large store here in the UK and Received what appeared to be a IPhone X...
I promptly packaged the item together and paid out my own pocket to return it as I’m away for Work for a fortnight. I added the tracking number and sent it off Signed For. The item was received by the store and I was awaiting my refund.
This was all confirmed on my Case tracking and a refund date was given.
This was all going fine until I got Suspended for ‘Activity on your account didn't follow our Abusive buyer policy’
I promptly contacted customer service and they said I was banned for the manor in which the item was sent back. That being, I sent it back without waiting for the Store to send me a return label.
I didn’t think this would be an issue and because I’m away from home for work I sent it back promptly to the correct Returns Address and added all tracking details accordingly. The item was returned back and signed for and was updated correctly on the case.
In my 15 years on Ebay I have been always been a strong member. I have received over 1100 feedbacks and no negatives. I have only opened a handful of returns in all my years on Ebay.
Something has clearly gone wrong somewhere. Customer service won't be reinstating my account either. At a lost end. Not only am I £500+ out of pocket I am now banned.
I discovered this forum via Google and just thought I'd post my bad luck!
All in all during these difficult times selling bits on Ebay helped me out greatly. I just wanted to rant somewhere!
