Yes, that is what is being said.
A static IP means that you have the same IP from now until whenever you end your service with your provider. No one else has that IP. No amount of rebooting your cable/dsl modem and or router will change that. It is permanant. You may be able to call them and ask them to change your IP, but they will probably only do that once. You can purchase a bundle of 5 or more static IPs if you want, but it can get expensive.
A dynamic IP is given by your provider also but it's "leased". On it's own it may change every few days or weeks. But if you use the tips in the Stealth Book and on these forums, you can change it at will.
I use cable with a static IP for my home network, but I have my ebay/paypal accounts on a different computer and it is using a Sprint Broadband wireless connection. I get a different dynamic IP everytime I connect with it. I just keep a record of all the IPs it has given me and on which accounts. |
if i have an ip dynamic address does that mean that everytime i turn my pc on and go online i have a different IP address? |

No. It depends on your provider. You'll need to go to ipchicken .com or ipburger .com and check to see what your IP is. |
| Vicvelcro | 06-18-2010 10:11 AM | Also, it is the modem and/or the router which need reboot. Not the PC. |
| Doubles | 06-19-2010 07:11 PM | hi, new here :yar: I was wondering, does ebay see the advanced details you can see in your ipchicken report? mine is very similar everytime, or do they just see the 11 digit i.p address?
Plus as a bonus question, is there any way to get an ip address from a different city? Or am i limited to just using ones for my 30 mile area? due to my cable provider having a city identity in the advanced details? |
| Vicvelcro | 06-19-2010 11:55 PM | eBay *can* see advanced connection info, but it seems they don't bother looking. I suspect that most of them would go slack-jawed and start drooling due to mental overload if they saw all the info that is easily available to them. So, for now, just worry about your IP and keep your logins separate so cookies don't mix.
If your ISP has the UBR locked to a small radius, then you are limited to locations within that radius. If your ISP does traffic shaping and grid-routing, you can sometimes get an IP long distances away. You can't jump distance at will. It's random luck, if it happens. Keep trying on your slow days when there's not much happening. It might work out for you. |
| johnnyleeds | 06-24-2010 06:41 PM | UK eBayers on Virginmedia Cable - This Works! Hi Folks!
Thanks for this brilliant guide, I had hit a brick wall with setting up my stealth accounts regarding the IP address of my cable modem and wifi router. I use Virginmedia Broadband via an Ambit cable modem and Netgear router I just couldnt get the IP to change despite trying all the stuff like resetting the modem, turning it off overnight etc. I followed the instructions in the first post in this thread and after a couple of attempts it has worked!
If you are also in the UK and have been having problems with your IP address not changing I strongly recommend you follow this guide. Note, I had a few problems where when I changed the MAC address of the router it was not returning any IP address and alarmingly I could not get back online. Fortunately I had saved the details of the original MAC address of the router and when I changed the MAC address back to the original one I got my connection back - albeit with the same pesky IP address. So make sure you write down the details of the existing MAC address in case your tinkering doesnt work and you need to get back online. Also following the steps where you turn off your modem and turn it back on while the router is renewing the details seems to be very important as is releasing and renewing the IP address from your router. I am enormously pleased I have got this to work for me as I was about to attempt to go ahead and use my precious new 'stealth' bank account details / phone number etc to open my new eBay and Paypal accounts with my existing IP address and hope for the best but this could have led to my new accounts been linked to my old one as has happened to so many people in the past. So if you have had this problem then persevere and with a bit of effort and patience you will succeed!
Many thanks!

| Vicvelcro | 06-25-2010 03:17 PM | A couple of quick notes that you may find useful in the future.
If you change router MAC but do not get an IP address from your modem, simply release and then renew or refresh the DHCP within the router or power off the router and the modem - then power up the modem then power up the router 15 seconds after powering up the modem.
No need to write down the original MAC address of the router. It will be on a sticker at the rear or on the bottom of the unit. In case you forget or lose the paper you write it on. Quote:

| razvan4NBA | 06-27-2010 12:50 PM | I have read that bots can pick up your ip range ... this implies that all your accounts will get down sooner or later ? |
| kyouichi | 06-30-2010 06:46 AM | sorry for asking a noob question, my router show a different ip from my internet ip.
which one does ebay and paypal look at when i login, i am afraid i might trigger limitation from paypal like 3rd party access ban. |
| Vicvelcro | 06-30-2010 06:53 AM | "IP range" ?!?! That could be as many as 16,581,375 possible addresses - depending on how the bots process the scan and how wide the range is that they are parsing.
No, they don't normally sniff an entire range. The only exception I know of applies to AOL. Quote:

| Vicvelcro | 06-30-2010 06:56 AM | eBay and Paypal look at the internet IP. They can not see past your router by direct methods.
Just use IP Burger or IP Chicken when checking your own IP address. The IP address shown by those sites is the IP address that is relevant to your concern. Quote:

If not, try 'repairing' your adapter. Also, you might want to close your browser and then open a command prompt -
execute the following:
ipconfig /flushdns
Then close command prompt, reopen your browser, and try loading a page. |
| Trader914 | 11-17-2010 04:29 PM | Changing IP Address I'm on Cox communications in Vegas. I have been trying to change my IP address for a week now. I am on modem>router?PC setup.
I simply disconnected the coaxial cable, disconnected the power cord and took out the backup battery and came back after 24 hours. Nothing. I did this 4 different times and the IP address was still exactly the same.
I have tried to change it by following the direction on this site and I am unable to change the MAC address. If I change the MAC address, the router can not get a new working IP address. It's possible I am doing this part incorrectly but I am wondering how this would change the IP address. No matter what I do with my hardware - PC, router, modem, MAC address, etc - isn't it ultimately up to my ISP's pool of IP addresses that assigns my IP address? How can what I do (such as changing the MAC address, etc as suggested here) within my house affect the IP address that my ISP assigns me? Isn't that totally random and I have zero control over it? |
| Trader914 | 11-17-2010 05:54 PM | Whenever I change the MAC address, my internet goes down. I am unable to get a functioning new IP address when I change my MAC address. I change the MAC address (by changing the last 4 digits), hit SAVE...then nothing happens. My IP address goes blank and I can not get my internet to connect. I also turned off the router and modem at the same time and it still does not work. My ISp has told me that whatever I do, the IP address can not be changed unless they deem it necessary to change and that is a totally random process. Are they wrong? |
| TRIALnERROR | 01-06-2011 01:33 AM | Netgear Wireless Network - No Mac Address Change Option So I'm setting my friend up with a couple accounts and I'm running into problems. I'm trying to change the MAC Address using a Wireless network (laptop). I log into the router and select basic settings but have no option nor do I see any Mac Address. I look online all over the place and I've told that you see the Mac Address under this tab (basic settings). I do not see it. Is the problem that I'm wireless and not directly connected with local area connection? Ugg, this is driving me crazy. |
| TRIALnERROR | 01-06-2011 04:10 PM | I have an interested issue with this step. I have no problems changing MACs on my Linksys routers, but I'm now having an issue with a friends Netgear router. This is a modem/router in one unit. I log into the router and select "basic settings" on the left. Unfortunately I don't have any options after that to change the Mac address. I clicked on every tab and there simply is no option to change the Mac address. This is the only information under "basic settings" and it is non-changeable. Can anybody help please?

If you only find one MAC setting, obviously that's the one you want.
04a. Do NOT choose to clone any MAC already in your system. Change the numbers in the last 2 pairs as you wish.
MAC is in this format - xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx - and the first 4 sets need to stay as they are. The last pairs change.
You can make those any hex numbers between 00-FF. Set this manually. Don't CLONE anything.
05a. After you change, you need to save the settings. So click save.
06a. You can either reboot the router or you can Release DHCP then Renew DHCP from the router, if you see the option.
07a. Regardless of what you did for 06a, unplug and replug your MODEM while the router is still doing it's thing.
08a. Goto IP Chicken - Whats my IP address? ip address lookup and compare it to what you got from 01a. It should be different.
If it is still the same, either you missed a step or your IP is STATIC.
[end modem/router]
004 For DSL, go see ebayhateluv's excellent thread here http://www.aspkin.com/forums/ebay-tr...p-address.html | |
You can't just change the MAC address on the fly. It is more a hardware identifier for your network adapter than anything else.
The router is the last place that will let you change your MAC address. Some routers have a feature which allow you to filter MAC addresses to allow or deny access only to certain adapters. But this is different to what you want to do.
If you want to change your MAC address you will have to do it manually. Thereby altering your hardware. |

I invoke Hide My IP, and IPBurger tells me it indeed has changed.
Yet, others are saying Hide My IP software isn't stealth.
So, I'm reading conflicting info up here. |

Ohh S...T!Which I really dont like it!) Because I believe was "None" before. The Ip was the same, dynamic, I did not change anything.
Now I scare to log in to any of my stealth Ebay account from any users on the Pc.
After a little search I find this on a page about Suspected Network Sharing Device
"It means that we've seen multiple browsers over a period of time suggesting that multiple computers may be sharing the same internet connection via a router or other network sharing device"
I was thinking because using multiple users accounts on my PC?
Any Idea? |
| softwarediscounts | 06-18-2011 11:41 AM | So if my old IP has been busted by eBay/PayPal before, will changing this IP allow me to set up a stealth account without any link to the old one? |
| ShadyOne | 06-18-2011 11:52 AM | ^ You need to use a different IP to seperate accounts. Simple as that.
IP is just one piece, you need to implement other important stealth pieces alongside changing your IP for each seperate eBay/PayPal account. |
