I have been wondering about this also. I think I saw a small thread that mention something like 7 is not good for stealth. But again, I'm not sure. Do a search to find that thread.

I love Windows 7. Best Windows OS so far. I've had no problems with stealth, where does it mention that?

When you don't get enough replies you "assume" that it's fine to use, you did that with another thread. Not a very good idea to just assume things like that, especially when dealing with ebay and paypal.

Anyways yes Windows 7 works great!

Windows7 is the best yet. Absolutely you should go for the upgrade. It beats Windows Vista completely. My main computer has been up and running for over 30 days now without a single crash.

LOL wow! 30 days without a crash....thats a good operating system...bahahaha

I used xp for 3 years without reformatting once and never got a crash! I dont think 30 days really counts.

Just keep in mind that it seems that Windows 7 shares a lot of machine info - might be rough later on with constant upgrades to ebay, paypal, and other services.

I will take XP and enjoy it for now.

Windows 7 has a lot of security settings, but it's faster from Vista.

Looking at getting a hand me down laptop up and running as a portable stealth machine and was wondering what OS to put on it.
Of course XP is readily available in fully activated version. From what I understand Vista and 7 are not as easy to get past the WGA test. It doesn't pay for me to spend $50 on a new HD, $35 on a new battery and then more than $100 on a "real" version of windows. I could just buy an entry level laptop with Win 7 for about $350.
So any insight on how to get a working version o 7 on the new machine?
Thanks

I bounce around between XP, Vista, 7, and OSX. I have not had a problem going stealth on any of my machines thus far. I really don't think the operating system would have any effect on being under the radar.

I know people would look at my funny, but I use my Vista machine the most. I have it fully customized and it's never been a problem to me. I don't care for the way 7 handles open windows and a few other nitpicks, so I use my modified Vista system. Plus, a lot of equipment still does not have a proper and clean Windows 7 upgrade. It's really just personal preference and what works the best and most efficient for you.
